Comments (2)Engine will run a LONG time if properly serviced. Transmission will typically run 100k to 150k so you will need to plan a new tranny soon. That will probably be your biggest expense. The other minor things can add up if you try to keep this vehicle in like new condition. I have had good luck with a 97 truck it now has over 337k and is only on its third transmission. Lots of little things have happened along the way most have been repaired some have not. I guess the key here is not to expect to much from a vehicle. kinda like the old Harley Davidson motorcycle repair guy told his customer that kept returning his new bike for repairs and complaining about it, he told him "Son you gotta kinda look at it this way, little babies die every day, and GOD made them!" So what do you really expect from a car truck anyway?...See MoreEgads! We Have To Make A Quick Decision On SAT Prep Course! Help!
Comments (13)I should add that I was trained/certified/highly in demand tutor (was asked for a lot by both NY cos. who were sponsoring schools and schools themselves, also had brisk private tutoring business) for both PR and SK at different times, but that ended about 15 years ago...so 1) I have an inside view of both organizations and materials and 2) it was a long time ago :). IMO the PR materials were always more insightful and canny than the SK materials; no offense to SK, because the organization was much more comfortable to work for than PR, but I do have to hand it to PR for better researchers/writers, some of whom I used to know and hang with a bit back in the day (including the founders...those were crazy times)... And Elizabeth, you'll note that I *did* leave a possibility for group instruction, in my second-to-last paragraph. It just seems to me to be a more diluted, general approach and more costly, even though when you sign up for a group you get a certain number of hours of private tutoring at a reduced price, or at least you used to...with private tutoring, you don't need to spend as much, IME, and if you do, you know that the time is totally devoted to your child's needs, not the needs of other children that are not relevant to yours... Of course I'm hoping that by the time my DD is at that bridge, the whole test culture will have imploded and disappeared :) -- I agree w/mary 228 that more and more good schools are willing to look at other factors besides standardized tests, which shows great perspicacity on their parts, IMO :)...See MoreHelp pick a slide-in, need quick decision
Comments (10)I'm also watching for a new 30 inch electric convection oven to replace my 14+ year Kitchen Aid convection oven that has served me well w/o trouble. As part of a remodel we replaced the refrigerator a month ago (after having our surrounding cabinets rebuilt to accommodate the taller, wider models) and more recently had a KA dishwasher installed. Both are operating as well as, if not better, than advertised. They are extremely quiet appliances compared to the ones they replaced. So, why not a KA stove and microwave? Well, the quality of the fittings, sharp edges on the bottom drawer/oven and even the light weight oven door, seem to lack the quality of my old model. Anyone care to comment on these newer KA ranges? I wonder how many have cut fingers from the rough metal edges on nearly ever brand stove out there! I like the Electrolux features and have checked several area stores to see the GEs and can't believe 5 different home improvement and electronics type centers that carry their brand did not have a model on display but asked me to sit down and look at a computer to see GEs higher end products. Guess it's due to the housing slowdown near me. My next step is to go to a local dealer as I did to buy my KA appliances. At least then you get service if you run into any problems! So if anyone reading this post has experience with the Electrolux, GE or Kitchen Aid stoves please add your comments. My cooking includes the large holiday meals, everyday cooking that includes baked breads and anything one can do with a range. (I'll check out the appliance forum too.) Thanks so much!...See Morefduk_gw UK zone 3 (US zone 8)
