are you mixing styles between table and island?? If it's a case where you need the island fixture in because the installers are there I'd pick third one down ....it might leave you the most flexibility for your table fixture.....not sure about your sequence of "picking" .....

herbflavor-I'll be picking the lighting for the entire house at once (new build) and that's the trouble--too many decisions to make! I like all of the pendants shown for the island (and need help narrowing down), but just don't really like any of the lighting I've found that would work over our kitchen table. I'd like the look to be cohesive, but they don't need to match.

And here's one more that I just found!

Is it possible to wait till you are farther along in the process? The hardest thing for lay people like me to conceptualize is scale. You don't want tiny lights in a large space, and you may get a better sense of scale when your kitchen is built, and cabinets are installed. All of your choices are nice.

eam44--We'll be doing our electrical walk-through this week and I was hoping to have a pretty good sense of what we'll be putting in when we meet with the electrician. We could probably delay the decision a bit, but I'm terrible at making decisions, so I'm not sure it would help! Too many pretty lights to pick from!

With the style Chandy you've picked, I think the 2nd and 3rd pendants go best. But, they are all lovely!

Makes me wish I were able to do pendants! :-(

I like the first one but it's a bit pretty for your industrial chandy. What is the lighting like with those filament bulbs?

mayflowers-I'm not sure how the lighting will be in my kitchen, however the reviews for the chandelier were overwhelmingly positive and indicated that the light was just right (though one comment mentioned switching lights out for different bulbs as the lights cast a yellow glow).

Do you think that the chandelier is too industrial for a transitional space? Here is the chandelier for my dining room, just to see more of my style. (The dining room isn't connected directly to the kitchen).

Of course you will want ur lighting to work together but the styles really don't have to match. I've seen nautical pendants look great with an antique crystal chandy. I like the 3 best.

isabel98-thanks for your thoughts! That is something I've struggled with as I want my home (open floor plan) to look cohesive, but I really like a variety of styles and don't want to limit myself to a particular style.

I found that exposed bulbs are really annoying over the island. We installed these lights above our island seating and the light hit everyone right in the eyes. We solved the problem by buying silver-tipped light bulbs which diffuse the light a good bit. Just something to think about...

I would start with that first pendant and then find a chandy that complements it. Bare bulbs hanging in a circle just aren't doing it for me.

I like the third one best. It has an interesting shape, and I love the crackle glass.

The fourth one seems to be an outlier; that is, quite different from the others -- more glam and glitz. I think it's too different from the wheel-and-light fixture you're putting over the table.

I agree with the above point about clear bulbs. In addition, I'd be a little wary about committing to Edison bulbs; they're trendy now, but will they continue to be available in future years? And they're more expensive than standard bulbs.
