This is a very well done modern adaptation of a colonial house and the windows have been enlarged. The use of taller "cottage style" windows on the the lower floor is an elegant feature that makes the house appear taller and will bring more light more deeply into the rooms.

No one can say how the windows will work with a plan until one is drawn but I have renovated enough similar houses to be able to say it is not a big design problem.

The issue with such an elegant historically accurate design is that the cost will be higher than an equivalent neo-eclectic design and few designers will know how to detail it properly and few builders will know how to build it properly (GW members excepted). I know it looks simple but the cost is in the elegance of details. That's not a fake slate roof.
