Anyone going to RI flower & garden show Feb. 21-24?
Comments (6)I love the PVD show, and I'm planning to go. Actually, I haven't looked at my calendar yet, and I have a nagging suspicion that my DH has other plans for that weekend that involve me - but I'm going to try to squeeze it in. There are some good speakers this year, including Julie Moir Messervy and Melinda Myers (Small Space Gardens). Anyway, I love the show - it's so easy to deal with compared to some of the big shows. I really don't mind the vendors! If people want to buy pots and pans there, and it supports the show, so what? It doesn't affect me at all. OK, I guess I'll admit that I've bought a scarf there every year for several years - and I'll look for that booth again. I also LOVE that there's a bookstore there - oh, I hope it's there again - where you can browse garden (and other) books. We are lucky enough to have a small local bookstore in my town, but they don't stock many garden books. So, I'll buy some of those at the show, and then try to figure out where I can stuff them in my already packed garden book shelves. Oh, yes, the display gardens are usually very nice, too!...See Moreflowers . . . in Feb in zone 5a!
Comments (12)Thanks, Bill. I think I may have noticed one set of crocus leaves coming up in that bed, so I'm hopeful. I took advantage of a sale at Scheepers and planted around 350 bulbs. The squirrels were right behind me digging them up. I can't believe they could have gotten ALL the bulbs, though... (If they did, I'm going to start looking for squirrel recipes.) Hi gardenweed, Yep, we've got a bumper crop of chipmunks too. Never saw as many as I did last year. They sit under the bird feeder and munch on what the birds drop. And one of my Helleborus 'Ivory Prince' has had buds all Winter, but they never really opened. One flower seems to be trying to bloom now. Maybe tomorrow when the warmth comes back....See MoreA Challenge!... for the Academy Awards Feb 27, 2011(pic heavy)

Comments (6)I loved the Beatles too. I don't know if I told y'all this or not, but it is something funny my dd and I talked about when she was a teenager in the late 70s and early 80s. We were talking about the Beatles and I told her what a hit they were because they were so different from anyone else we knew and because of their long hair. She then had the audacity to ask when they had long hair. I looked at her like she was nuts then I thought about it. Her little boyfriend had a long ponytail at that time. That's long hair, not the hair cuts the Beatles had that covered their ears. It definitely was longer than the butch cuts most boys had back then though. You have to keep things in perspective.
