Great DIY Idea for That Age-Old Throw Pillow Storage Problem!
Comments (24)Yes, I agree that it might look odd during the day if it was sitting empty. The idea that it could hold folded throws then is a good one. I said we had a chest at the foot of ours. I should have said a trunk with a flat top. We keep our throw pillows on that at night, and it works fine. I just saw this cute idea and thought it might be a pretty and inexpensive solution for some people. Actually, if I didn't need the trunk's storage, I'd replace it with a totally padded bench, as DH walks into it at least once a month!...See MoreThrow Pillow Dilemma
Comments (9)If your sofa is yellow, you probably don't want yellow pillows. If your sofa is gray, perhaps you would like a pop of yellow on the sofa. And if your idea is to hang that nice grouping of art OVER the sofa, then you probably don't want prints on your throw pillows (or at least, prints of the same scale/designs). I would focus on a couple of pillows that are simpler, but have great texture, such a velvet with some sheen to it, and a solid pillow with tassels. Maybe white, or black would be nice. As for across the room over the TV, (you said "behind the tv", which sounds unusual, so not sure what that means), but if you have a wall like this with smaller grouped art, then I would choose something large for the opposite wall. Maybe a black and white or one of those liquid acrylic pour paintings, in your palette, like this: Or, it might be better to go in a different direction than just the "modern" vibe of abstracts/patterns and go with something else. I came up with this, since it reminds me of a painting my SIL did. You see how wildly different these are, and may not be right in your space. You haven't shown us your space, so don't know how "tight" your palette is, or whether your design style is more modern, or what. Comments (2)Whenever you have too much of color like your tan tones/golden oak floor, then you need to add a contrasting foreground color with just a smidge of the tan/gold. You also need to bring pattern into your room. Look for items that have just a bit of the pink from your art work. Rugs: Pillows:...See Moresuggestions needed for throw pillows
Comments (6)There is a concept of value contrast with colors- and also something like clear vs muddy or soft colors. the rug to me looks high- contrast and also more vino, clear colors rather than softened colors. So I would be looking for pillows covers that echo those features. It doesn’t mean the entire pillow or print has to be high contrast, deep and clear, because there could be some prints that include softer or more muted colors , as long as there are some parts or bits in the print or trim that reference the rug, some of the strong red, blue, black, or white. So if you actually wanted to tone down the rest of decor you might look for that type of combination specifically....See MoreDJ
