Don't know but if you call a lumber yard or funiture repair place they could tell you...also a paint store would probably know.

@patann - All Free can have enzymes; check the label and call the company. The All Free Small & Mighty does not, but I think the basic All Free might. When I called the company, they wanted the UPC/SKU number on the bottle so they could give me a correct answer. Bio-Kleen makes a powder detergent, safe for 'he' washers, that has no enzymes. It is the one that is not 'premium'. Bio-Kleen liquid has no enzymes. Woolite Darks has no enzymes. If you have (or can use someone's) an old-fashioned top-loader (water hog), you can use Orvus paste or even baby shampoo for the wool blankets. The pH of Orvus, a livestock shampoo and perfect for protein fibers like silk and wool (and no OBAs), will be better for wool than the alkaline base of most laundry detergents.

Ha! I understand where you are coming from. We found the chest and loved it some 15 years ago, maybe more. Its a Lane too by the way. When we opened it and realized it was cedar it was a turn off but I think we paid maybe $100 for it on a dept store clearance---the store was going out of business. So we bought it with the idea we'd use it to protect some stuff since our house at the time was sooooo small and we were out of closet space and under the bed space. It eneded up in the DR of all places being used as a display table for pictures with unused blankets inside. Now that we finally moved, we were looking for a spot where it could be better appreciated. The pefect spot was in the FR and coincidently we needed a place to put our blankets and pillows. The chest was the perfect solution except for the smell. So now we have a nice looking chest that we can use. If I ever really want the cedar scent back I suppose the urathane can be sanded off.

The paint is orginial, it has just been kept in extraordinary shape. A gentleman that was helping me wrote and said " ...wonderful marriage chest, There is a lot that is impressive about this chest.The detail is extraordinary. Important to understand that this chest joins to families,possibly noble ones. I say that because of the crown shaped lock,as well the monolithic writing of the families initials. you will notice that each side is different.the one on the left appears to be a 3 letter monogram ,(I could be wrong) to me to contain the letters D/ C with a large center letter being an A ( possibly) an H. The second monolithic set of letters is more difficult.I believe it to be a 4 letter monogram , J /C the large center letter being an A (possibly) an H.I am not sure of the fourth letter (possibly a Maiden name). What I find very intriguing is that I have two books on "Monograms and Alphabetic Devices By Hayward and Blanche Cirker Copyright 1970 these books contain about 10 different styles mostly (British and French ),The earliest being 1830 others are 1870/ 74 and 1881 the styles on this trunk are not in those books.Which makes sense as this trunk has an earlier date. Certainly the way the artist joins the larger letter with a ring. The reason I bring this up is that the artistic style of the lettering could potentially tell the artist.Maybe there are other books with monolithic writing from this earlier time period.You may want to seek out a historian that is a specialist in monolithic writing. The symbolism is all over the place on this one ,two different yet similar painted sides with the tying of the ribbon, only 2 flowers in the basket,love birds etc......"
