Good Solid Bonsai Book for Beginners?
Comments (9)I guess this is an old-ish thread, but with the holidays approaching its still relevant. As a beginner myself, I've checked out a decent number of bonsai books in the past year. Despite many recommendations here and elsewhere, I found "The Complete book of Bonsai by Harry Tomlunson" to be so basic as to be almost useless. You can find similar info all over the internet by reading any introductory material on bonsai. At least for me, it was way too basic and high level to be of much use. I did however have the fortune to be gifted a copy of Deborah Koreshoff's out of print Bonsai book, which I find invaluable and amazing. Quite accessible to a beginner, and I think it will be many years before I am at the point where I need more depth than is in this book. It's probably expensive to buy, but well worth it. I can't figure out why its no longer in print, given the high quality of the content. I also had a chance to browse a friends copy of John Naka's Bonsai Techniques I, which I found very technical and difficult to relate to at my current skill level. I'm sure its a great book, but I decided its not for me, at least not now or anytime soon. Daniel...See MoreWhat are some good rose books to own??

Comments (7)I would not waste your time building a garden for your bees unless you lots of land to add a crop too or you just want too. The bees will go to "wild" sources to get honey. The best resource to use would be an experience beekeeper to mentor you and help you. Try to find a local beekeeping club this is the best way to get started with beekeeping. Some good books are the abc and xyz's of Bee Culture. This book has everything about beekeeping you could possibly want to know. Another good book is the hive and the honey bee if your looking for more on the scientific side of beekeeping more the experienced beekeeper. But one thing to remember read different books and listen to different beekeepers because each book and beekeeper have different styles and techniques of beekeeping. Also remember expensive is not always better. Happy Beekeeping! -Alex...See MoreAny good books on mini roses?
Comments (3)Hello dalez, There is a very good book on minis which came out about 2 to 3 years ago. The author is very well known. Just go to google book search. Here more details : "Secrets of the Miniature Rose by Abler, Elizabeth Secrets of the Miniature Rose is one of the first books devoted exclusively to miniature roses. This updated edition, which includes more than 75 color photographs of all colors and varieties, is a complete planting guide for these lovely and popular household and garden adornments. Any good bookstore can get it for you, but make sure you get the latest addition. The first one came out in the nineties. Good luck George Mander Here is a link that might be useful: Roses of Excellence...See Morewirosarian_z4b_WI
