Depends on the project, but DH sure does when he;s in the kitchen -- cooking or cleaing. LOL

Yep, I invariably run out of poop before I run out of project. I have been trying really hard to practice discipline. No, do NOT set it down to put away later. Take 8 more steps to the utility room and put it away NOW.

Closets were a mess for nearly a month. First I decided to get rid of clothes. Then I decided to paint. Then I decided to do flooring. It wasn't an organized redo, that's why it was such a messy process.

Did someone say George Clooney? Swoon! I was able to put the cleaners back with room to spare, but that's it.

I've heard of housekeeping ADD. I think my problem is I'll forget to do something later once I see it needs to be done. Like the hall light. Who looks up when they walk? Guess I did this morning. lol.

Ahem -- I decided to clean the basement which is why all the boxes of Christmas decorations are still in the living room. I decided it would be easier to straighten up down there before the decos were put back. So, I've made very little progress in the basement and the boxes are still in the living room. Believe me when I say there are even more examples of messing things up in order to clean, except the cleaning doesn't happen.

Oakley, there's plenty of humor to go around. Dh kept telling me what a great show it was, but I stubbornly stuck to GMA until I actually watched a few episodes a couple years ago and realized it was time to move on. One of the first things that grabbed my attention was how popular music is paired with the news. Then watching how Charlie Rose, Norah O'Donnell, and Gayle King interact pretty much sealed the deal.

I have a hard time staying on task, but no, everything's much messier before I start than when I finish.

Sounds like you have a hard time staying focused. Turn the tv off, or watch your show and then devote your full attention to cleaning. It helps me to do types of tasks at one time. For example, tomorrow you might clean all your doors, or all your light fixtures, etc. But in answer to your question, even if I do get off task, I think things are in better shape afterwards than before.

I have a large double door wardrobe cabinet that must have been used in a dorm or boarding school at one time, as there are metal 'slots' for labels on all the doors and drawers. It has a row of narrow drawers along one side, with an open cabinet above--I assume for hats. On the other side is a hanging rod, with nothing on it because the cabinet is packed full of sewing notions, old patterns, fabric and fabric scraps, yarn and all kinds of little things that can be used for projects.

I'm starting a baby quilt for a young cousin, and needed a certain color, which I suspected was pretty close to the bottom of the pile, since I'd last used the fabric about 9 years ago, on another baby quilt. I was correct--I had a mess scattered all around the cabinet, but those pieces of fabric sure brought back some memories. I was zapped back to the present when I remembered I had to clean up the mess and put everything back.

Yep! Was looking for a new bottle of hair product I bought a month ago in our bathroom. Couldn't find right off the bat where I thought it was, so I immediately started panic-searching. Ended up cleaning a couple of drawers and 2 shelves in the bathroom. Oh well, they needed it. And then I opened another drawer and lo and behold, there was the hair product I started looking for in the first place. And so it goes.

Outside, isn't it funny how we put things in special places so we'll know where it's at, and then we can't find them?

Tina, you're right. I also have Adult ADD. Seriously. But I love to clean in the LR with the TV on. I don't listen to music because that will distract me if it's a song I like. lol

Cindy, CBS is good for solid news those two hours, but I can only handle 30 min. of hard news or read it online.

Linelle, I can stay on task for little things like cleaning the kitchen. But when I do a deep clean project, watch out!

Oakley, it was you who got me, the former diehard Today Show fan, hooked on GMA. And thank you! I love it, but I admit they can be distracting they're so entertaining. And, yes, I have housecleaning ADD, too. I started out today with a list of 10 things I wanted to do, all choreographed around meeting two of my girlfriends in town for lunch. In the middle of cleaning this morning, one of them called wanting to change to a restaurant on the opposite side of town. This turned my plans and my house upside down. (Sigh) The house has yet to recover.

If I'm doing major cleaning, I always start out making a huge mess first. But I do make sure to finish it up, and try to stay on task rather than running around in circles.

I'm glad (?) to know I'm not the only one with boxes of Holiday decorations out. I tasked SO with putting away that stuff, since I'm busy renovating a bathroom. It's actually been sort of funny to watch his progress. He gathered a large portion of it and piled it onto the dining room table, where it has sat all this time. Some of the big stuff (the tree and ornaments) did make it to the storage room (I think?). I've been trying to ignore the stuff all over the table, but finally had to break down and inquire. He said he keeps forgetting to bring home more boxes. Huh? That stuff came out of boxes, that went back into the store room when I finished. He says it doesn't all fit. I'm staying out of it!

Errant, I'm happy to report I moved the box of ornaments. :) Most men wouldn't even think to look for the original box. I kept all of my good items in their original boxes until this year. What I did was wrap everything in paper and stacked them in storage tubs, and wrote "Fragile" on the lid. It sure saved a lot of space.

It's true, we are all the same under our skin. I'm going to clean one of these days. And when I do, my garage will pay the price. As I move through the house those "things" that need any kind of effort gets pushed ahead of me until I get to the garage.
