transport windmill palm on top of SUV
Comments (8)thanks for all the replies. There is a lot of good info on this site. Jay and billn119, It would fit on the inside but my family and I are making a short vacation out of it. Thats one reason I didn't want to pull the trailor around for three days or leave it at the hotel. I just didn't want to worry about it. Jay, I am digging up the tree myself so the amount of soil I take is variable. A guy bought a house with a few trachys and doesn't want them. I'm taking the smallest of the four. I don't have the equipment to pull out the 13 ft palm :( Mike, I already plan on buying a BBB southern magnolia while I'm down there as well....See MoreGood time to buy a used SUV
Comments (4)And she's gonna get about 18 MPG with it on the highway. That ain't bad! My Expedition gets 20. And my Dakota gets 15! So guess what I drive?? The EVIL vehicle!! Yes there are the busybodies that want to dictate who can do what but the free marketplace is working. The values of the large vehicles are falling and there are plenty of bargains out there today. I hope she gets many years of enjoyment out of her truck. And who cares what other busybodies think!...See MoreGM Full Size SUV/Truck Recall
Comments (9)I guess the idea behind the original post is that if a vehicle is built right, it shouldn't need to be recalled. However, with the complexity of vehicles and the number of lawsuits filed in this country, every manufacturer winds up recalling many vehicles every year. Many recalls are for trivial items, or for possible defects that only affect a few vehicles, yet require that tens of thousands be checked to figure out which few actually have the problem. Case in point: My S10 was recalled to have a new seat belt/airbag warning sticker put on the sun visor. Apparently there was a misprint on the original one. They mailed me the sticker and included instructions for attaching the new sticker, and also said that I was welcome to visit the dealer and "have this service performed for me." I read both stickers -- the original one that came on the truck, as well as the "corrected" sticker that they mailed me -- and they were identical. So whatever problem might have existed on the sticker didn't affect all vehicles....See MoreWhat is the best SUV to purchase?
Comments (3)Look at the Honda CR-V or Toyota RAV4. After my experience with a 2005 Honda CR-V, I recommend the AWD option. The vehicle is tall and when turning a corner after a stop, the front wheel drive only model tends to lighten the load on the inside front wheel and allows it to spin too easily. The condition is worsened on wet pavement. The AWD version eliminates this problem and is desirable in snow country and slippery roads. AWD adds weight to these models and may reduce fuel mileage by 0.5 to 1.0 miles per gallon. AWD drive adds parts to the list of items that may fail. In our family with 5 auto years of driving Honda CR-V + AWD, there has been no failure. One of our CR-V's is driven 6 days per week....See More- 10 years ago
