Using a nightstand as an end table????????
Comments (17)In your mind, disregard the 'name' and just call it a 'side table'. That's what I had to do with 'sewing machine cabinet'. I had to call it 'side table' in my leetle head so that I could use it as a night stand. Needed a table for a very, very high bed (thank you Mr. Amity for the mis-measurement) and thinking out of the box I came up with a vintage sewing machine cabinet that is the perfect height. In other words, doesn't matter what you use as a 'table' (stacked vintage suitcases as tables have been around for ages!) as long as it works for You and your family....See MoreWhat does your bedside table tell us?
Comments (35)Okay, so I showed this thread to my husband and said, "SEE! I AM normal!" My bedside table holds the following: chapstick lamp with bright flourescent bulb for reading eye drops a box of tissues (since I am STILL getting over the flu) cough drops (ditto) some dust dinosaurs (they are really big and have been around forever) and a few books: The Return - Hakan Nesser Life Class - Pat Barker Coming up for Air - George Orwell - gotta read this so I can discuss it with Martin The Book of Air and Shadows - Michael Gruber Empire Falls - Richard Russo Sarah Canary - Karen Joy Fowler - gotta read this to discuss with Vicki Love in the Time of Cholera - GG Marquez The Houses of Children - Coleman Dowell The Portrait - Iain Pears Never Go Back - Robert Goddard Mademoiselle de Maupin - Theophile Gautier The Book on the Bookshelf - Henry Petrosky The Glass Bead Game - Herman Hesse The Age of American Unreason - Susan Jacoby. Yea, I know... my husband says he fears that one morning, he will wake up to find me squished under the bedside stacks. PAM...See MoreGot my living room "nightstand"
Comments (19)MizGG, thanks! I would just be worried that black would reduce the light in a room that tends to be dark. Other than sconces over the FP, these lamps are our only source of light. I am so tempted to try the gray linen, though... OTOH, I noticed as I sat in there last night that when the lamps are actually on, the shades look more golden. I am probably overthinking the whole thing, as I tend to do when something new arrives. I'm going to give it a few days...then I'm going to go to Puerto Rico for several days to think about it...and re-evaluate when I come home....See MoreNightstand to nightstand. Comments (34)This was over our bed until a week ago. I made it before we acquired our sweet, little brown dog (who now sleeps with us) and it is a huge ordeal to keep it dust and fur free. I was also getting a little tired of all of the gathers & trim. The painting will stay and since I still like the fabric, I'll be re-doing the drapes on either side of the bed from "puddling" rod pockets to floor-length pinch pleats....See MoreSueb20
