The fabric in the curtains is the same so I think it looks fine. I'd probably hang the other Roman shade and then see how you feel about it.

The shades on the sconces look ok to me too but if you see a mismatch in certain light, why not try adding some black or matching grey trim to a white shade?

I would love to see your beautiful fireplace w/o the tv hanging above. I know it's personal taste, but I just don't get why a tv with a big black screen would be made a focal point, when the fireplace is *already* the focal point? Darn HGTV dictates and people take it seriously. Do what you love. This is NOT meant to offend, just a short vent.

I must prefer the cleaner profile of the shades, which are beautiful (as is everything).

I think I might like the cleaner look of the Roman shades on the other 2 Windows, if you beef up the molding on those also.

I think the room looks great. I especially like the symmetry of the fireplace/TV screen - it's pleasing to the eye. You've echoed the symmetry with the sconces, so I would carry that through to the Roman shades, balancing the left window with the right. With respect to the sconce shades - I would leave off changing those for 4-8 weeks, and let the room settle on me. If it still niggled me after that point, then I'd go to the bother of making the switch. But not until I'd set the rest of the room. The room is lovely!

Gorgeous!! What a huge difference adding that lovely over-mantle made. I think your roman shades look fabulous, and I think the curtains look nice on the other wall as well. I do agree that the window trim should match if you do choose to do the shades on all windows. Oh, and your sconces look great with those shades!

I LOVE your fireplace and TV. Seriously, love it. I need to figure out something better for my set-up, and you've given me some great ideas. My current situation is like your before, and I'm thinking of trying to use some planking and molding to come up with something similar to your after. You did a great job!!

It's all done perfectly so no worries for you about the shades, they're wonderful.

I noticed you added a trim panel above the windows on the fireplace wall? I think you need to do the same to the other windows in the room, otherwise it looks unbalanced, or worse ... like you ran out of wood/trim/money to finish all the windows.

Thank you for the great comments! I knew it would change the room but I'm surprised at how much it changed the look. When I look in here I almost can't believe it is the same room. I forgot to ask.. Do I need accessory for the mantle or leave it plain? I could do like a trio of small plants under the tv or similar?

Patty-cakes42- I know what your saying and I really felt the same way before we had this house built. But, with the layout of this particular living room it is really what works best for the space. I've actually come to love it for the fact that it saves so much space in the room and to me looks better than a big entertainment center. I guess it just works for us and to me looks good. We thought about doing doors to hide the TV but I knew that we would just end up leaving them open all the time. Maybe closing them occasionally when guest come so we decided it wasn't worth doing.

chispa- I told my DH the same thing.. Lol! I think I will have to do roman shades instead of curtains if we add the trim thought. We also have French doors on the opposite wall from the two windows which I think would need the additional trim as well.

I don't mind having a mix of roman shades and panels at all, but as suggested above, I would beef up the trim above the other windows to match the others.

I think I would leave the shades. You don't want it too matchy-matchy. A mix gives it texture I think. What a beautiful room, though.
