badgergal, ? about your daughter's bathroom

I saw your pics of your daughter's bathroom in this thread, Carrara look porcelain...Daltile Florentine Carrara?

Beautiful!

But what really caught my eye is the transition strip between tile
and floor. It looks like there is an elevation difference between the
two. Is that correct? If so, how much difference is there?

Our builder cheaped out and didn't install underlayment upstairs so
when we replaced the builder grade vinyl floor in the 2nd bath with
heated floors and tile, we had a 1/2" elevation difference. We knew in
advance this would be the case but going back to vinyl wasn't an option
(DH was not a fan at all).

Our carpet installer said he could slope up to the change but it's
not the best solution. It would work okay for the 2nd bath but it would
be very difficult to do the same for the master bath (we'll have the
same elevation difference when we do our master bath soon). So we
resigned ourselves to adding underlayment upstairs. Ugh.

But now I'm wondering if perhaps we could do what it looks like your daughter did. Can you tell me more, please?

Thanks!
