If You Could Re-Do Your Garden Shed, What Would You Do Different?
Comments (8)Oh boy ... that's definitely a loaded question, but thank heavens my husband doesn't read these forums! I'd had it all planned out (the shed, that is), but it was not cost effective. Oh all right - $2000.00 IS a bit ridiculous, I suppose. We modified the design and took a few shortcuts to significantly drop the cost, got a few things from friends ("free" works for me!), and ended up w/ a really cool shed, inside & out. It's large enough to hold all of my garden tools/accessories/books/etc. Plenty of space to move around, lots of counter space for various tasks ... I actually spend quite a bit of time out there on the weekends, even in cold temps (propane heater). BUT ... the number one thing that I would do different is the roof. While corrugated tin LOOKS absolutely fantastic, rustic, etc., it doesn't hold heat worth a darn! Of course, I can't possibly say anything about it at this point - the shed is built, and I'M the idiot that fell in love w/ the overall look of a tin roof! *heavy sigh* Guess I shot myself in the foot, so to speak!...See MoreWould you like to see a just started furniture re-do?
Comments (22)maire cate, I'm sorry that I missed your question, as I was writing my reply when you asked. I think have most of it out. After the primal scream, I got water and towels right away and scrubbed as hard as I could quickly. That craft paint dries so quickly that I thought I was going to lose three great rugs. There may be a bit left in them, as it's still streaked on the wooden floors, but I hope that 99% of it is gone. Today I caught him chewing something in here and opened his mouth. It was the cap from the paint that he chewed up Sunday. I don't know where he had stashed it, but he can't get it any more....See Morewill brass come back? do you re-do the whole house?
Comments (24)I've just spent the last 2 years changing out ALL the ugly builder's brass light fixtures in our 10 year old house & couldn't be happier to be getting rid of them. Now, mind you...I agree that brass is classic & will always be around, but my fixtures are the "typical" builders fixtures, not expensive or particularly stylish. I'm updating to bronze & iron for the most part. I will not change out the brass doorknobs though. Those don't bother me at all. We also have chrome/brass faucet fixtures through the whole house & I doubt those will be changed out anytime soon (if ever). I did change out all the bath & kitchen knobs to black & bronze. So, I'm of the mindset that it's OK to mix it all up too. I love the new fixtures I've put up, they are so much more interesting than the old standard cheapie ones and add a lot to our home for not that much $$ either. I also say go with what you love. I happen to love bronze & iron more and it mixes in with my style of decorating. I also use a lot of antique gold accessories, so it all works together....See MoreRedoing a super small master bath! What do you think of these plans?
Comments (11)Thank you everyone for your feedback! @benjesbride I guess I just wanted a roomy shower since it is a master. Also at its current layout there is only 2 ft on either side of the tub. So it's very tight in there. There is literally only 15 sq of tile on the floor...I seriously bang my leg on the tub getting to the toilet. So, while I could put a shower where the tub is, it would have to be a little 3x3 corner shower for space concerns. And that feels cheap for a master bath to me, anyways. Perhaps second only to the labor of moving the toilet, is the labor of getting the cinderella tub out....See Moremama goose_gw zn6OH
