Al or Josh, please help! My figs and maple are waking up.
Comments (23)Oh Josh! Would you believe I was scared to death to cut off that much? Lolololol. Now I have Al suggesting that I go even further down the road? Now that's chopped!lol Ok, first off I am happy to report that the TWO, yes, two plants are doing well thus far! They are responding very well. In fact, the mix fell right away from the roots of yours Josh. You sent that plant to me in a great mix and which in turn I used the very same mix to repot! It's a good thing we all use the same mixes. I never have a problem repotting a plant from you pal. Blake, I think I answered your question in there somewhere:-) Al, now, that is quite the picture and would you believe it still took me a couple of days to completely understand this? lol. Yes, I knew you would. Anyhow, I must say if I can get just ONE plant to look as good as your Bonsai, I would be thrilled. I really appreciate your guidence along with Josh and others. I can't really envision what that 'hornbeam' is going to look like, but I trust you. I never even heard of a 'hornbeam'! Guess I'll have to google that one. Now that mullberry bush is to die for. GREAT work! Have you ever posted it with leaves? It must be beautiful. Would you beleive I saw the workers at the Bonsai shop hacking their trees way back in the fall, and I just about died? It was very traumatic for me to see what they were doing to what I thought were beautiful trees as was, but then they laughed at me when I expressed this. lol I do have what would be a beautiful huge sweet maple tree that turns brillaint colors come the fall that I have been growing in a 3 gallon container for about 3 years now. Let's just say that if I planted inground, it would be a giant. Right now it's only about 6 feet high. What to do? I will snap a pic of it this weekend, ok? Comments (7)Something similar happened to me a couple of years ago. It WAS my son calling from where he lives - Las Vegas, stating if I didn't wire him $2,000 by 4 that afternoon, someone was going to hurt him. I said 'let me get back to you'. I immediately called the police, told them about the phone call, gave them his address, where he worked and his phone number. They said they'd check into it. My son called me about 3 that afternoon to say he'd handled it. My point is - it COULD be a relative who is trying to scam you. My son wasn't in trouble - he has a gambling addiction and wanted money to go gamble!...See MoreWhen do I wake up my dormant fuchsia?
Comments (5)Well - I am guestimating here because my conditions are very different from yours but maybe you could start giving it light and moisture a few weeks before your last frost is likely. As long as it doesn't cook in a Southern window. Cut it right back if you haven't already done so and consider repotting or at least topping it off with some fresh medium. Loads of info on the web about how to bring them back into growth once you've decided when to do it....See MoreHere are some of the beauties waking up in my garden.
Comments (7)hl, I would not recommend Fire Alarm to anyone in my area. I lost my first one and replaced it but they are very hit and miss. marquest, we too had a mild winter here which is probably why Fire Alarm survived. Most of mine made it through this winter so I am happy with them. Connie, I'm surprised about your Key Lime Pie. That was one of my first Heucheras and I have even successfully divided it once - I find it doesn't always take. But mine always comes back happy and healthy. I hope yours survives! Sherry, do take out that camera! I always love your Heuchera photos! Barb...See Morecory (Zone 7a, NJ)
