Comments (6)Save my seeds in little coin envelopes but have traded for some that the folks made them out of left over wrapping paper and brown paper bags, reg paper that was folded to make a little pockets. Also at the craft stores they sell itty bitty plastic bags for around 1.29 for 100 of them....See MoreI don't want pics in desktop backgrounds list!
Comments (7)To remove the pictures from your desktop background list, you'll have to remove them from the My Pictures folder in My Documents. With My Documents open, you can right click and select New Folder, name it Pictures or something, then copy and paste your pictures into the new folder. They won't show up in the backgrounds list if they are in a different folder. To prevent new saved photos from showing up on the list, start saving them to a different location such as the new folder. Once you start saving them somewhere else besides My Pictures, Windows should remember the path to the new location....See MoreMy Desktop isn't showing when I turn on my computer. Why?
Comments (24)Wow, there is a lot of good information here. Glad I posted with my problem, now I have something new to try out. Thanks owbist. ravencajun, thanks for the compliment but I only had the first half of it figured out and cboy came to the rescue and helped me with the last half of it. I can't take all the credit. "Smiles" Then zep516 came in catching the fact that System Restore wasn't working right and gave me great information on how to correct that. This was the first time that I've had problems with my desktop, but I have changed the backround on it before and I remembered that and I thought why not check it out and see if I could get it to change and that is when I discovered that the backround had been changed and all I had to do was to put it back like I had it, but then I didn't know how to get the icons back and that's when cboy posted the solution for me. If that ever happens to me again I will know exactly what to do. Thanks owbist for telling me how to move the icons down to the taskbar. Comments (3)Hi Azinoh, Thank you for your advice. The amount of data is over 1TB once the video files are included. Pictures and text (word or pdf) files are much simpler - less than 10GB. I already have a new external hard drive attached to my pc. I've been copying-backing up files to there. I also have them backed up on the NAS - but I'm worried about not being able to access those if I can't figure out how to set up my synology diskstation right away. So I wanted to be sure to have access to the important files right away. I'm confident I can access the files on the new external hard drive from my new computer. I'll search the Canon site for my model. It's not that old - manufactured in the Windows 7-8 days. I actually thought it might have been too new for my XP computer to make that set up easy. Now I know I can check that out on Canon's site. In terms of putting the failing second drive in the new pc, I agree. I'm not certain it's actually failing. When this happened with another drive 2 or 3 years ago, I think it was a healthy drive. I think I was on the Tivo forums about this - and people thought the drive was fine. I don't recall why more files weren't displaying. So if this winds up being a limitation of my desktop's explorer program - or something that isn't a flaw of the drive, it might be worth keeping. But I never did risk it with that old drive, even though more knowledgeable people than me thought it was safe to use. So I probably won't use this one either. But I will try to pay more attention to what the problem is. Is Macrium Reflect something I can use on this XP computer now to copy files? would it be faster than using explorer? Thanks. 10 years agolast modified: 10 years agoIf you're missing the "Desktop" shortcut in the "Save Image" dialogue, you might try right-clicking "Favorites" and selecting "Restore favorite links".

If when You right click on the Image; do you see "Save Picture As"? If so, Right Click on Save Picture As and it will open a Window that you should see your Desktop in the Left Column! Click on Desktop (Left Column) then Name your file (Below) and then choose the Format you'd like the Picture saved in; BMP or JPEG Finally click Save in the Bottom Right Corner of the Window!
Below are two photos.
In Photo #1 after Right Clicking on the Photo you can see "Save Picture As" I have it highlighted with a Red Box.
In the #2 Photo I have the process Numbered, 1-4. Click on Desktop in the Left Column. Name the File to Be saved in #2. Set the File Type in #3. Click on #4 to Save your file!

Certain images or all images?
Certain sites replace the right-click menu, for example, right-clicking the image below
