Reupholster leather sofa?
Comments (9)I'm just wondering what you decided to do with your Italian leather sofa. I have an American made leather sectional with attached cushions, top grain leather, heavy frame, but it's two years old and the cushions are sagging, the leather creasing, and I'm afraid I'm going to have tear in the leather sooner or later. It's a bear trying to find info on re-stuffing a couch with attached cushions, but from what I have gleaned it involves disassembling the couch, separating the seats from the backs, cutting the dust cover, removing and replacing the seat cushions, re-stapling the dust cover, and re-assembling the couch. I've been unable to get anyone to come to the house to take a look, let alone give me an estimate for the repair. It sounds way too complicated to DIY, but I believe I'm going to try it anyway. The leather is great, the frame is great, but the poor quality foam is going to make it unusable, so why send it all to the landfill without even trying? Of course my fear is that I won't be able to put it all back together again!...See MoreReupholstering and seat cushions

Comments (35)It looks like a brand-new sofa! And my compliments to the upholsterer on lining up the pattern, which, as Olychick pointed out, ain't easy. I followed the links to see what those products were, and they don't look nearly as tacky as I was picturing, though they would after I was done using them on all the places that need it in my house. :) (Being a life-long dog owner whose now the smitten owner of two awesome cats, I've a lot to learn about cat "stuff.") And btw, I'm sorry about the cat in your picture who's no longer with you. :( After all is said and done, we can replace the things our pet destroys, but there's no replacing the pet. It boggles my mind that not everyone thinks that way, but it is what it is....See MoreReupholstering a sectional sofa in faux or recycled leather
Comments (1)Recycled leather and faux leather are not the same. The former is actual animal hides that have been reclaimed from other furniture, and the latter is generally vinyl or some other similar material made to look like leather. Some companies refer to faux leather as "vegan leather" because it's made of plastic. Regardless, $3000 is a lot to spend when you could put that toward something new. If you're worried about the sofa ending up in a landfill, call around to local charities that accept gently used furniture and donate it....See Morebusybee3
