Comments (10)Thanks so much to all.. As far as the pics go.. I think Im going to try picasa.. Ive done everything w/ PB aside from physically going there to deliver the prints! lol Josh, Yea.. its the bigg'n.. its been a while since Ive been on so I will update you. sorry, wish I had pics. I had gone out and gotten a nice (open bottom) stand for it. The liner that came in it was supposed to have drainage holes. Im guessing a factory screw up, or missed inspection didnt see that the holes were covered in a thin layer of plastic. So needless to say when I did water it (four to five weeks ago now) all that water just sat in the clear liner. I never noticed because I normally just let him do his thing.. When I noticed the first branch rot, Id posted this thread.. two days later.. saw the water. Then tried to just fluff up the soil, removed the liner, and put a little space heater in the room just to try to dry out the room. A few days later..another branch.. This is when I decided to make a new mix, and check for root rot. I really didnt want to but the soil was just NOT drying out. Three days ago I removed the tree, let it dry out overnight, put the new mix in (basically the same as what you told me), and the next morning checked the roots.. Thank goodness, NO ROOT DAMAGE! So he is now back in his pot..nice, dry, sunny and doing very well. One thing I was pleased seeing.. When I repotted back in December, the poor thing had practically no roots.. just a stump.. when I checked the other day, there are roots sprawling out every direction a good 5 inches!! Thanks everyone!! Christina (and of course "Big Guy"..lol)...See MoreColorful Jades! Please. let's see yours. Some of mine. Pics

Comments (74)Mike B, it could be safe to zone 6, but if you do decide to put it outside, make sure that it's in a wind protected spot - and, maybe wrap it in burlap, and mulch well the roots before the frost hits. I know what you mean - most of the plants I've bought have been tiny. I personally don't mind this since I'm so space deprived. All the citris I've bought, I've been contemplating bonsai'ing to keep them to smaller pots, and fitted to my window space. congratulations on the keffir lime though. I think I saw one of those at Meyer Mike's and it has the nicest smelling leaves when you sacrifice one and sniff at it. The variegated gardenia - mine's still not bloomed and I bought it with a bud. It's a complete tease. I held off transplanting it into a better pot because of that bud - and yet, still ... small pot - no action. that small pot it's in means I have to water it every 3 days. If you haven't picked up the African gardenia - that should be your next splurge. It's blooming weekly. this month - new buds every few days. and voila! they open. And, the smell on one flower is light - but as more open - last night I came home and the scent in my apartment was really intoxicating. Next time we plan a Logees trip, you should join us there. :) A good time was had by all. :) -Rose...See MoreA quick morning tour
Comments (94)Thank you everyone so much. As far as him taking care of the plants, well,,,,um,,,not so much. I am going to have to do it little at a time myself. But even though a couple reservoirs were bone dry, no one wilted yet. BUT,, no one died!!!! I have this neat little tray Anne loaned me that fits on my walker and that will make this task so much easier. Thanks Anne!!! And we had so much fun at the Ann Arbor Violet Show. I also bought a miniature begonia. Those little leave are no bigger than my baby fingernail (and folks, that is small!) and I certainly love "small"!!!!! I am also gearing up for the fall show. Are you getting ready Anne????? AND there may be a light at the end of a tunnel. At the show a very nice lady asked me if I was a member of either of the clubs that put the show on. I said I don't know of anyone or group to join. She gave me a handout and my oh me!!! One of the groups is pretty close for me to attend meetings!! I am gonna try eventually! Gonna broaden my horizons!!! Thank you all for the good wishes!!! Rosie...See Moreehuns27 7a PA
