Misty Carrera vs. Bianco River - Quartz Carrera Looks
Comments (6)Thanks alku05! I also design professionally and sometimes also obsess about choices I make for my clients. All my postings aren't for me alone, but it HAS taken me a long time to really decide what I want. It's much easier to design for other people, but a designer has so many choices and if their design likes span many styles it's often hard to make up ones mind ;-). Would be a lot easier if I only liked one style, but I think I have it all in place now finally. Was going to do a black counter until I saw this Bianco River. The other problem is I'm trying to use one slab for both the kitchen and bath counters....See MoreQuartz substitute for marble
Comments (58)Just to add my 2 cents: I have Vermont Danby marble for about 8 months now and have no stains on it. I use my kitchen all the time--tomatoes, vinegar, berries, wine, coffee, tea, etc. etc. and it is still the same color as the day it was installed. The sealers are wonderful and because the stone is indeed very dense it doesn't absorb stains. It does however etch, so if that would bother you, you should go with quartzite or engineered quartz. The beauty of the stone is unsurpassed in my opinion and I don't regret my decision one bit....See MoreMarble countertop from Home Depot?
Comments (8)I had HD install a granite vanity and sink and they did a fine job. It could not have been done any better. Please be sure that you really want carrara marble. I have carrara marble for the floor and vanity top in a powder room, done about 20 years ago. They are worn and scratched and will be replaced next year for other reasons. At year 19, brown/yellow stains appeared within th stone which I have since learned is some kind of oxidation or rust. Theory is there is/was some water leaking. Also, I had Vermont Danby marble counters installed in my kitchen reno, 5 years ago. There are scratches, tons of etches but not one stain. Also, little white divots. If that's your cuppa, fine. Just be aware....See MoreThe best marble looking quartz you’ve seen?
Comments (5)You'll find a lot of discussion in the Kitchen Forum, including this [thread[(https://www.houzz.com/discussions/quartz-closest-to-carrera-marble-dsvw-vd~3614653). Personally, I feel the best match in Calacatta is the Caeserstone Calacatta Nuovo. For carrara looks, I think they've improved but there is still a gap to the look of real: the LG Minuet is good as is the Dupont London Sky. There are also some lesser known brands that look pretty good in photos, but I have not seen them up close....See Moremtnmom9
