Comments (13)SP/VV has been attending the ASLA annual meeting in Boston - sorry for the diversion. That really looks like an Ilex integra to me - insofar as I know that species, which is only slightly. Any chance of images of the potential parent plants from the park? If this purloined seedling is related, then the buds/foliage will likely have affinity. Help us by providing that imagery. THEN: provide (maybe in another thread - Trees? Comments (4)One of the wax myrtles (bayberry/wax myrtle). Does Myrica cerifera (Southern wax myrtle) grow there? If not then maybe its Myrica pensylvanica (Northern bayberry), which I think is tardily deciduous, but much hardier. It will hold onto its leaves longer in mild weather and may actually be semi-evergreen much further south. M. cerifera may survive up there, but would probably burn back in zone 6, I'm thinking. M. cerifera is truly evergreen (down to a certain temperature anyway -- maybe around 0-5 degrees F.). Genus name may have changed to Morella....See More- 8 years ago
