Both my DD's have tiny studio co ops. For the oldest we did the classic white, white subways and black granite. Because it was so small, it allowed her to get custom.

We'll see what happens with this next kitchen. In the mean time, it has a very functional blue/green Ikea kitchen that was put in about ten years ago.

In case this thread misses Holly, would you know what granite she used?

That's why I mentioned the Bremtown, thinking if the number of cabs is low, she could perhaps still afford them. I think it is a good idea to spend a little more to get good cabinets, i.e.: 3/4", no particle board, dove-tailed....

Despite the very small size of my kitchen, it has a lot of cabinetry, so the price tag for me for the Bremtown cabs was just too high. But, like I said, I'm glad because it forced me to keep looking, which made me find the sage green, which I fell in love with and which have allowed me to have my dream countertops - wood (I'm staining and sealing them now. They should be installed next week).

Hard to tell a brand of countertop. I was originally looking at quartz and liked the Cambria and Caesarstone brands. I was not impressed with Silestone.

Hi Ellendi! I just saw your question. The cabinets were made by a local cabinet maker. They are maple in a wheat stain with a very light glazing of chocolate to bring out the beaded trim.

The granite is Typhoon Bordeaux and I absolutely love it. I still find my eyes going to spots that intrigue me. The first lot of TB that I saw was very pretty but not nearly as pretty as this lot that was at the end of the warehouse.

My floors are sapele mahogany in a chestnut stain, I like them but if I could do it over again I would do white oak with a dark stain. The floor in the library is oak and it wears like iron. The sapele is supposed to be hard but this floor dents like crazy. I refer to it as character!

HK, kitchen should be done in the next couple of weeks. Slowed by countertop issues, but they'll be ready to go in this week.
