only the bottom rack fully extends, you also have 2 x 3/4 regular pull out racks. Here in this old pic is my hood over the old JennAire range which I finally was able to replace. The motor and vent to the outside are hidden in the cabinet above the hood. The system provides a 1200 cfm exhaust, which is wonderful. Here the cabinet doors are open to show the amount of storage I retained in the 15" deep cabinets. I am sure you can find something like this that will work. Mine is a ModernAire custom built to take the minimal vertical space for motor and venting. One problem with fitting a hood into your existing kitchen is that the space above the range is the same width as the range. Recommendations are always that the hood extend least 3" wider on each side than the range. However, a number of people with situations like yours (where they are retrofitting a hood into existing upper cabinets) have installed hoods of the same width as their ranges. UPDATE...I emailed American Range again in February, 2018 and got no response, as usual. I gathered up all of my previous emails to them since 2013, and sent another email in March. Finally, a response! They mailed me a part! But since neither the gas or the electric oven is working correctly, I don't know whether the part is for the electric or the gas oven. Another email sent. I have not heard back yet. However it doesn't matter how many parts they send because I can't lift a 630 lb wall oven. I still have not found a repair company that will repair it. So, I am keeping the American Range thread alive so others will know about the problems. The gas oven will only heat up to 375, but that is when I have the temp set to 425. My natural gas bill is high because it takes almost 2 hours to reach 375.

Costs were spiralling and space was diminishing. original thought was 48" all gass range with double oven (electric + steam or double electric). Pot storage became tricky. Moved to 48" range top with gas and electric oven combo, will get a steam oven in my next life. BS shows stacked gas or electric FD ovens but was wondering if any one actually did it. They sell a FD over DD electric double oven. Are the doors below awkward? Wouldn't the complaint about reaching over a door apply at the bottom. My current double ovens are DD but I am short and definitely appreciate not having to stretch over a hot door.
