Hello Friends ~ Well..I guess I would be considered an 'oldie' and I too remember the days of Spike! I believe it is beneficial for a member, any member, to occasionally remind everyone of the rules (and 'yes' they are the rules of Garden Web) to keep some semblance of order! If a member is unsure of where to post a topic, just ask! We are all here to help and learn from one another. Also, if you notice your post has been moved from one side of the board to the other, do not take offence rather look upon it as a favor from a fellow Junker! While I do not want to revisit previous situations, I believe that Wired's post regarding two members needs to be clarified. I cannot address the member 'Brenda' as I do not remember her nor that situation but I do recall the member named 'Connie' and too insinuate that members were "Jealous" and "Ran her off" is to misstate the situation. Connie did indeed have some great Junk and was a creative person as Wired states but she began posting pictures of her interior design skills, which would have been appropriate on the Conversations side of the board but she insisted on posting them on the Discussions side. The more members tried to help her understand this error and ask her to move her postings, the nastier she and the situation became! Unfortunately, it culminated in her leaving on less then favorable terms. I come here, not as often as I would like to as of late, to learn from other members creativity and experience. I believe both sides of our board have merit. I just tried to post a couple of small pictures and had a real problem. The first post didn't display the pictures and it took some effort to figure out how to do it correctly. Then the pictures displayed HUGE! I couldn't find a way to delete or edit my original post (which now looks both stupid AND shows information I would rather not display). On the blog site I use, I can click icons for bold text, italicized text, links, and pictures. When I click the picture icon there (which requires no 3rd party upload), I get button choices for whether the picture is small, medium, or large AND whether it is displayed left, right or center of the screen. I don't pay for that blog site and there are no ads. So it must not be a difficult upgrade. Would it be THAT hard to make things SO MUCH easier for the users here at Gardenweb? It doesn't seem to have been that hard to do at the blogger site...

Concerning the Preview window. other boards have the option, but you do not HAVE to go through the preview step before posting. Would be nice to have the option (as with seeing a photo) or not. Angela, it's NIVER been one of us. It's always GW and their Internal Errors. If they would fix this, no one would worry that their carefully worded and pithy saga was GONE! When this first started a long while back, I got in the habit of Ctrl+A on my post, waiting for the error, then going back into the thread to see if I posted or not. Always did. Ironically I haven't had this issue in quite some time. I'm on my laptop. They have to post on Facebook? What happened to those of us who use their [ahem] service to communicate with each other regarding areas of mutual interest? Are they giving up on their own, advertisement-saturated method of communication? Will GW/iVillage become a Facebook clone? Or just another Blog? Someone in our restaurant's corporate office decided the most important dictum of the week was that our ties were now full Windsor, rather than 1/2 Windsor. It was wildly important that we comply immediately. And to think someone got paid for that, when we have crappy bread, kitchens too small to accommodate a $50,000.00 Saturday night, and a dishwasher that can't keep up so everything has to run through at least twice. My point... iVillage might want to consider working on and with their own systems, vs. worrying about Facebook. And, probably Twitter. Well, they seem to be twits.
