I see that avant style around a bit and it can look nice depending on the overall look but also can look dated in some applications. I vote fore the first one. More subtle.

The two patterns are so different from one another. Usually I like traditional like the Avant, but here I find the Renewed impressions is just lovely, and I rather like the subtlety of the nickel caming. Darker caming would be too much.

None of the above. Something with less froofery would be a much better choice. Simple and classic is always better than overly ornate and stylistically wrong.

What brand door?

How can you ask us to pick a door style in a vacuum? Your door style needs to relate to the rest of the house.

Sidelines? Transom? What's the entry look like from the inside?

Artemis and Cpartist, the house isn't finished yet, but here is a rendering of the front. I am not that concerned with the door matching a house style. And yes, I want the door to be red.

Looking at your contemporary house style, my answer is NEITHER! It doesn't go with the house at all and will look like a mistake.

I can;t in good conscience as I would then be endorsing PlasPro which I cannot do.

Millworkman, is Plastpro that bad? I tried to do research on the different door manufacturers, all seemed to have a few bad reviews, so I picked the one with the least. The door can be changed, which door do you recommend?

I say bring out options 3, 4, and 5. I'm not loving either 1 or 2.

I also don't like the door itself. Too much glass -- seems too fragile. And though I'm definitely a red person, red on this door is a mistake. You have too little of it -- it feels skimpy. It looks like a red circle on a school essay, and we all know that none of us like red circles on our papers.

I don't like double doors, but that's personal opinion.

I'm not sure about the arch over the doors. I know what you were going for: It mimics the two arches over the other two windows, but I'm thinking it might be too much of a good thing.

No glass doors. They are totally wrong. And awful quality. That house needs a single 42" door, not double doors. One with 8-10 carved raised panels. Very Modern Spanish looking. Arch topped if you can swing it. And that could take a dark chili red. Not a bright primary school red.

I agree with Sophie. If not mahogany I would use Provia or Homeguard. Genuine Therma Tru for a real dealer (not a box store) would be as low as I would go on the food chain.

Thanks everyone for their opinions. Let me add that I wasn't trying to match the windows I just love arches, curves and circles in design, would have them everywhere and not get tired. I grew up with a mahogany door with raised panels, I HATED it,, vowed never to have it in a house of my own, so the glass is here to stay. I have big furniture, a larger than 42" square dining table, I don't need want the hassle of trying to squeeze it through a single door, so double doors are here to stay. Sophie I know you did not mean it as a compliment but Primary red is the name of the door color and I absolutely love it, that color is going nowhere.

I did check Provia et al before and dismissed or one reason or another, but I will check again as I did my research awhile ago.

What I'm hearing is that you've made up your mind and nothing will be changing. You can have an attractive red door with an arch, but this isn't it.

Funny mrspete. I'm hearing the same thing. This OP has made up their mind and will do what she wants.

In my defence, I didn't ask for an opinion on the color of the door, style of the door or whether it should be double or single door, I asked about the glass insert, so yes when it comes to color, style and arrangement I have made up my mind.

And we are all telling you that neither one works with that door and house. It is completely out of character for a contemporary house like yours.

Another vote for the first one of the two options presented.

Here are some nicer red doors -- lots of glass, some arches -- maybe they'll inspire you. Looking for patterns, trying to discern what works, I see right away that red works when it's used as a strong statement -- not when it's essentially an outline.

Hmm, Tiggsy -- looking at the last two doors from mrspete -- you could perhaps combine the best of both? You'd get your arch and your double door, and you could adapt that to the glass and framing used in the bottom photo, to good effect. (Now, to find... or have custom-made...) You could also have it frosted, just to discourage people peeping in.

Of the two options presented, I prefer the first.

The first one looks like poinsettias. The second looks outdate.

Before you make your final choice, I suggest you check out Simpson doors. They have a lot of art glass, including stained glass. I've used their solid and plain glass doors, and the quality is very good for the price. Made in USA, IIRC.
