There's no turning back now! X Post from Kitchen Forum
Comments (28)Ok, we're done for the day. We're all exhausted! My uncle left this morning to head home and the four of us finished up. Took about 6 hours to cut out and polish the sink cutout, but the guys persevered yesterday and even cut out and polished all the backsplash pieces. Today we finished all the plumbing for the sink, dishwasher and refrigerator, put in a new door, put up the crown, scribe, base and casing (not quite done, we have to figure out a different base for around the cabinets). We also finished installing the appliances, the undercabinet lights and cleaned up a bit. Still to do: finish the base, putty and caulk all the trim, paint trim and the door and install the jewelry (aka hardware). Little stuff, nothing huge. Now I have to get the house cleaned up and back in order! But for now, sitting down feels really good. Oh, and while we were at it, we replaced the (horrid) laminate countertop in the bathroom and put in a new sink and faucet. We'll have to do the rest of the bathroom at some point, but this is a good start!...See MoreX post to Kitchen forum..Miele rotisserie at work.
Comments (9)I don't have the splatter thing I guess. I just have 2 huge dark baking pans with sides. They are coated with the PC. They slide under the rack on the special glides so you can move them to whatever rack you want or use them on top of the rack as a baking sheet....that is what I usually do. I use them when I make huge batches of granola etc. Try the de greaser and the green scrubbie. Also ...and the Miele people would probably have a fit but this is what I did when I had stuff in the oven that wouldn't come off. I used a plastic picnic knife. You know disposable and I scraped back and forth with it after the degreaser had soaked on it. Also make a compress with VERY hot water and a thick rag. Leave it and the degreaser alone for a while and then use the plastic fork ,it all comes off. Believe me it works and the PC is not damaged. GOOD LUCK !! c...See MoreConverting sink to shower x-post with bath forum
Comments (3)I considered that same shower when I was designing my dog room. The quotes to create it were VERY costly because the whole thing needed to be built, waterproofed, etc. Even building a shower pan is quite in depth. Here is a link that explains one way to do it step by step: http://www.ontariotile.com/showerfloormud1.html We ended up buying a prefab grooming tub and tiling over the back. I don't think this would be what you are looking for since it is only for the dogs, not for us to rinse off in, but this was what we did: Are you planning on having your dog crate built or are you going to use a regular dog crate that slides in? We just used standard crates and sized our cubbies above them to fit so they slide underneath but I wanted to be able to replace the crates over time if I needed to:...See MoreBathroom Reveal, Thanks to the Bathroom and Remodel Forums!X-Post
Comments (6)Lovely! I like the classic white tile and porcelain and how you used furniture pieces in the bathroom. I love that the storage at the end of the tub has pull-outs that can be reached from the toilet. Your custom sink and backsplash and counter are unique and beautiful. Yours may be the first bathroom sink I have seen in which a small or medium dog could be washed! That is a good thing! I showed your pictures to my DH because I am thinking of classic tiled walls with a chair rail for when we redo our bath in a couple of years. He liked it! I was expecting him to say, "too old fashioned." He did not, he said it looked nice. From him, nice is a compliment. He even liked your rows of listello. I was just at the Tile Shop's site the other day looking at the Hampton tiles because someone was selling some on Craigslist. I am hoping to do as you did and get what I can cheaper there, and fill in the rest from the store. I can see that you worked very hard to secure all of your materials - and then cut the floor tiles to size and culled the Hampton tiles, too! You succeeded very well in getting the look you wanted while saving money along the way. Congratulations, and thank you for the pictures and great detail and supply list....See Moredesertsteph
