Oh goodness, you don't want to go there. winter 2012-2013 I had an infestation of aphids that was beyond psychotic. I fought them with everything and they won. Once outside the ladybugs helped clean them, but they had suffered a lot due to the infestation. This year I didn't have issues until the temps started warming, this year I just washed them off with a spray of water weekly. Last year I used Neem oil, insecticidal soap, water, a lemon mixture I found on the web (it burned the leaves), I tried a few other things, NOTHING worked. It was horrible. Pam

calliope: maybe? How can I identify potworm? I look around and 1 website says its length is ~1/4 inch, and the other says it can reach up to 1 inch. One thing that totally confuse me (and make me think if this is a larvae of flying bugs) is none of the pots has been out for >4 months, and placed in a very closed apartment on the second floor. I have never seen them until 2 weeks ago. So where would they come? I don't have any gnats currently (have that before and successfully eliminated with Gnatrol), but I have to admit that I got bites at night, not sure if it is related or just mosquitoes.

I have these in my traditional compost bin. They eventually grow into black soldier flies. In that bin I don't mind them but in my worm bin it would bother me simply because I don't want all these flies in my house. Outside it doesn't matter.

They could be fruit fly larvae or small flies; pesky devils.
