What do you collect other than roses?
Comments (60)Animals aren't collections, even if you do have several, okay 6 cats and four dogs. China isn't a collection...you use it. Besides, some of it was my grandmother's and some mothers, and I really liked the soft pink abstract rose on that set and you need Christmas china, and of course, you need different china for the grandkids at Christmas. I suppose having 350 different daylilies means I must admit to collecting them. But all the Christmas decorations are just decorations, not a collection...except maybe the Dickens Villiage is a collection. And Josh, I am really impressed with all of your languages. In addition to English, I speak only Spanish and German, and, like Melissa, I can read French, but I do not speak nor understand the spoken French. And like Susie, Books are not a collection any more than food is. kay...See MoreOT taking a break--literally
Comments (31)thee are hundreds of them. they don't seem to care that i'm laid up. maybe they're here to cheer me up. That sounds amazing and must be a beautiful sight...let the butterflies on wing carry you away from your pain and infirmities for a time. Re: your broken wrists - hope you don't mind some unsolicited advice! The goal is to stabalize bone and get out of cast/splints ASAP and get into therapy. Because the wrist joints will be "frozen" and there will be muscle atrophy from the immobility, you must slowly and steadily move and strengthen the joints. It can be painful and tedious sometimes. My OT recommended daily exercises and scar massage (might be awkward for you to do with both wrists recuperating at once). Do the exercises diligently although at times it will be hard and you won't feel like you are making progress! But you will get there! Are you elevating your wrists above the heart as much as possible? Can you sleep with your forearms propped on pillows? It helps to wiggle and stretch your fingers, take regular walks, and keep your shoulders stretched out. It is not easy I know. I broke my wrist falling off a ladder from a height of 15 feet and my back, neck and head (bad concussion) were pretty messed up. For awhile I could only sleep on my back with the wrist elevated. Judicious use of medication helped me a great deal with pain, sleeping, inflammation, and mood....See MoreHelp us pack for Italy ;0)
Comments (34)We were in Italy two years ago in March. As far as I can tell, no one in Europe wears shorts, and as others have said, especially not white sneakers. A shift sundress & comfortable flat sandals would be perfect. Clarks Privo, Merrill, J-41 all make really comfortable and fashionable foot wear  very Euro. You can most like buy nice pashminas on the street. Go to the leather street markets in Florence for purses, jackets & wallets and yes, haggle the prices. Terrible food in Venice, but oh what a place  like no where else. Rome was very friendly to us. We stayed in B&Bs mostly, breakfast included. Usually we were staying in someoneÂs house with a locked room with a bath  there are websites to find places that include very helpful reviews. We like to stay with the locals, and itÂs cheaper too. We found that not many merchants took Discover card but Visa, MC, & AMEX were easily used. They say you get a better exchange rate with a card, but one of my cards has added a surcharge, so check with your provider. The smaller B&Bs took cards through PayPal. We checked our luggage, but took a change of clothes in a carry-on  and they did lose our bags but fortunately on the way home. My advice to anyone traveling  donÂt take more than you can carry by yourself....See MoreWhat's for Dinner ... Friday?
Comments (22)Shirley, shrimp would be my choice for a pasta with cream based sauce! Yum! I'll bet that evrryone has their own recipe for fried shrimp. Mine is extremely basic. I beat an egg with a little bit of milk....just with a fork. Then I stir up a mixture of equal parts flour, corn meal, and panko seasoned with S & P, Old Bay seasoning. Cleaned, dry shrimp gets dipped in the egg and then the flour, then fried in oil. I usually do it in a frying pan, rather than a deep fryer, turning the shrimp after just a couple of minutes. ANYway, I made some stuffed zucchini (rice, onions, black beans, chopped bell and jalapeno peppers, cheese) to go with the grilled chicken. It was delish, but I want fried shrimp now!...See MoreNothing Left to Say
