I'm right there on the sofa with you Phoggie and Mary!

I watched several of them on "ME TV" last night. I did not remember the Andy Griffith jail house Christmas program. I watched all the Andy Griffith shows when they were brand new and have watched re-runs forever. Remember when Turner started his station (TBS?) and AG was on two and three times a day? I was in Heaven; no matter what shift I worked, or how many jobs, I could nearly always catch an episode.

Besides MeTV, there's another channel, getTV. The past few weeks, it's been showing old Christmas variety shows: Andy Williams, Sonny & Cher, Danny Kaye, Perry Como, Judy Garland, etc.. I didn't grow up in this country and didn't get a chance to see these shows. For me, they aren't reruns, it's my 1st time watching them. They don't make shows like these anymore. These shows should be treasured. They're so classic, not old but in an elegant way that is.

The great thing about these channels is that I don't need cable or satellite networks to watch them. They're free over the air channels! Free tv viewing is certainly wonderful!

Add my name to the list. But I am tired of the longer made for tv movies. Time to move on. I'm sure they will be repeated next year.

I never saw Andy Griffith when the show was new, but I'm enjoying it now. So sweet and comforting. I think I'll move to Mayberry and marry Sheriff Andy Taylor--providing Aunt Bee agrees to stay on as housekeeper and cook. I may have to make a few menu changes, though. But just think . . . Opie will grow up to become a famous Hollywood director and take good care of us in our old age. :-)

PS: Frances Bavier, who played Aunt Bee, died a week before her 87th birthday. That surprised me. It was also a nice surprise to learn that she went to Columbia, intending to become a teacher, and graduated from the American Academy of Dramatic Arts. No marriage or children though.

Wouldn't Frances Bavier have been a wonderful grandmother!
