I'm finally all caught up with my viewing. And now I'm impatient for Sunday's episode. My biggest complaint about my two BFFs is that neither of them watch DA so I can't talk about it with them. I need to reconsider those relationships; the last 34 years wasted on Philistines. What's with all the shades of purple in the clothes this season? Was purple big in the 20's? Except for the ugly red/orange dress with the blue sleeves (she's worn it twice), Edith does get to wear many lovely things. When Mary finally stops wearing all the black she also has some pretty pieces in her wardrobe.

Beth4, Hey! I was winding-up my NDSU-time in '84-'86! >>> I don't believe those blizzard/traffic deaths were in Downtown Fargo... They were out near the airport on 19th Ave. N. Its' an East-West road that fills-in FAST because of the 8' high fences that ring the airport. (most of that fence is ~75' from the road...) Therefore, snow starts building-up in a hurry across that road if winds are from the North! They were driving thru drifts when they shouldn't have even been on that road. TXJ, We're NOT 30 below. THAT was a few days ago...;-) * We DID set a record low for the date tho...MINUS 33 ACTUAL temp, not this Wind-Chill silliness... * G. Forks had minus 36 I think. * Thur. nite tho, we'll get back down to minus 25 they say!! * Breathing air THAT cold almost "hurts" in a way! But still...people here go shoppin'....snow "creaks" when you walk on it... * We've been "kinda" laughing at all the Today Show "drama" about the cold places! Reporters commenting on "special alerts" about temps in the "teens"...wow.... * I DON'T laugh at the ag-growers though, that's serious business. I'm just talkin' about the "crisis-mode" mentality weather news. Think I went brain dead when we bought our new home. I really got into giving everything to the goodwill. Have no clue what I was thinking when I sent everything for Christmas to them. Think I will buy some items after Christmas for next year. Only thing that I kept was the bubble lights that were on my grandmothers tree in the 40's. They don't work anymore, but they sure bring back the memories to my childhood, sitting in the old wooden chair looking at that Christmas tree.

I'm thoroughly enjoying this post - love Mtn's suitcases and her DH's originality. These are some of the presents DH wrapped, you can see the elegant brown wrapping paper with his custom calligraphy. Notice the large white one? The one covered in paper towels with the crude lettering on the side? He put this under the tree after I went to bed on Christmas Eve and he made sure that it was the last one opened. Under the paper towels was a brown cardboard box with round holes in it from Longfield Gardens, the kind they use to ship flower bulbs. He reminded me not the shake the box and I assumed it was full of bulbs packed in peat and dirt. I thought it a little odd because we had recently planted a hundred or so bulbs and I was not looking forward to planting more in the middle of the winter. I opened the box and it was full of styrofoam peanuts, the kind that fly up and stick to your clothes and hands. My grand daughter immediately dug in and giggled when she discovered that they clung to her arms and belly. There was another, smaller box at the bottom and inside was a beautiful tsavorite necklace and a little note that said he had finally found a birthstone for me that was prettier than the traditional garnet. He was quite pleased (me too) with his little charade.
