Scotch Bonnet Mild/Sweet Alternative

Sandra

Hi all,

I'm looking for a mild/sweet alternative to scotch bonnets. I really like the fruity and smoky flavor that is associated with scotch bonnets, but the rest of my family doesn't like hot peppers so I'm hoping to grow a sweet or less hot variety of pepper that I can use.

I've looked it up a bit myself and aji dulce (cachucha) seems to be a suggested alternative. If anyone has used/grown these, can you tell me about the flavor profile and suggest some seed sources? I've also looked at some of the varieties on TradeWindsFruit and there appears to be a lot of aji dulce varieties that look like they might be good alternatives, but there are A LOT to choose from. If you have any advice I'd love to hear from you. I'm trying to narrow down my search to 2 or 3 varieties to try due to limited growing space.

Thanks for any help you guys provide.
