from last year. I loved the Trini' Perfume, but I got a lot more fruit from the Aji dulce, and the aroma was perfect. I'm trying to overwinter both again.

Nanelle-gw, thanks for letting me know about the different peppers you've tried. I'll definitely consider growing aji dulce peppers as well (seems to be the easiest seeds to order).

My trini perfume was my most prolific and favorite seasoning pepper.

Also check out the aji orchid, very fruity, habanero tasting and a very unique shape.

From everyone's experience, would you say trinidad perfume has no heat like a bell pepper or is there a little heat?

My perfumes had zero heat but I think with most seasoning peppers you can occasionally get a mildly hot one off of a supposedly no heat tree. Not sure how that works but off of my massive aji orchid tree one or two peppers had very mild heat.

But remember the heat is only in the ribs and seeds the flesh is never hot. On seasoning peppers anyway.

Also I grew aji dulce 2 from tradewinds last year and it didn't grow true- the peppers were too small and not the right shape although the tree grew huge and super healthy. I love trade winds usually but maybe get this seed from somewhere else.

Finally I forgot about Arroz con pollo pepper! Also my fave last year! From baker creek seeds, just as prolific and delicious as trini perfume. A Cuban seasoning pepper with the hab flavor and no heat.

hobbyartisan-- Thanks for letting me know :) I read that occassional hot peppers pops up in seasoning/spicy peppers as well. I think it's probably a throw back to when they use to be hot, prior to the selective breeding for sweetness/taste/or whatever else they were bred for. And, I'll definitely remove the seeds and ribs before cooking with them.

Thanks for the heads up about the Tradewinds aji dulce 2. I think I'll probably be getting my aji dulce from Southern Exposure Seed Exchange (a grower at my farmers market carries these seeds so no shipping cost ;)).

I'll definitely look into arroz con pollo peppers; I'm planning my Bakers Creek order now.

I've been on this mission for a while! Grown well over 100 varieties. Trinidad perfume is nice, I think Biquinho beats it. Zero spice, tastes like full flavor habanero it's shocking. So many Aji's! Instead of Dulce, try an Aji Guyana, the sweetest one I know of at a mild med heat. A final one I recommend for a crazy citrus sweet burst, but still mild med heat, is the peachadew. That's almost 10yrs of work to find those 3! Also, everyone do yourself a favor and find some carmagnolia rosso sweet bell pepper seeds. Cheers.
