Please help me pick a wall color for living room!
Comments (18)I think the mirror is John Richard, very expensive. You can of course get the same look much cheaper if you look around but always buy the best you can afford. I do think the chair is too small in scale. I would forgo the chair at this point because you already have a good amount of seating and concentrate on the rest of the room. I also think the drapes should up over the windows, add fabric to the bottoms if you can't replace them. I also would not worry so much about making the room lighter/brighter at this point. Worry about making it pretty and making it work for your lifestyle. This is a very special room in that whatever you do to the walls will have major, major impact to the room. That includes the windows. This is way I think wallpaper would make such a great investment and maybe save you money in the long run. Otherwise I think you are going to have to have lots of art to keep it from being dull. There are some wonderful people here to help you every step of the way. I know your room can look fabulous with careful investments. Do you have anything else to go in the room? What are your favorite colors? Look at websites like Schumacher for inspritation. Comments (5)I agree--green would be a nice choice with your cabinets and counter tops. A medium to dark color would be a nice contrast. Pastel would just get lost. Try BM Saybrook Sage, Louisberg Green, Kennebunckport Green, or any of the other greens in the Historical Paint Collection....See MoreHelp me pick a kitchen paint color: Want color and warmth!
Comments (26)Hi Everyone! Well my kitchen is done! And we went with BM White Dove! I love it! I pulled away from the darker creams and I’m glad I did. White Dove is still warm but I think it has a fresh, modern feel. In certain northern light it can read blue-gray but I actually love that - even though that’s what I feared. My art pops on it and everything feels more crisp. Surprisingly, I don’t miss the yellow-gold at all. I do have to tell you about a crazy moment: I first chose SW Creamy. The painter put one coat on and I freaked out. It read light country yellow! I HATED it! Luckily, my painter was very gracious about running to the store and buying new paint. He had recommended White Dove all along and he was right. Now I’m working on swapping out the lights for something more contemporary. Amazing how a coat of paint can change the whole feel! Thanks for all your advice!...See MorePlease please please help me pick a paint color!
Comments (9)North facing rooms will be dark most of the day and pick up purple tones from any paint. I would look carefully at the undertones and the formulas to ensure you don't have a lot of red and blue if you can't tell from the paint itself. I had a home with a north facing kitchen that I actually wanted to bring out the purple in so I purposefully went with a barely periwinkle gray that appeared full on periwinkle in that space. I suspect you don't want purple in your room. North facing rooms will also make your color appear deeper so you want something with a high light reflective value. My vote is for BM Gentle Cream....See MoreRelated Professionals
