what's the next Aloe I should add to my collection?
Comments (9)Here are a few of my favorite Aloes... I had to stop at the letter 'H' as there were getting too many photos... can finish up some other day. Aloe aculeata Aloe alooides Aloe barberae (if you got the room) Aloe betsileensis Aloe broomii (this is variety tarkaensis, but the other variety is nice, too) Aloe cameronii (mine never get quite this red- I water them too much) Aloe capitata Aloe cryptopoda (var. wickensii) Aloe dichotomas in the landscape (this is one of my very favorite Aloes) Aloe excelsa Aloe fleurentiorum (if you like weird colored Aloes) Aloe framesii (this photo doesn't do them justice) Aloe globulogemma (if you like unique Aloe flowers) Aloe harlana (this is the real thing, not that A hemmingii sold everywhere as Aloe harlana) Aloe hereroensis...See MoreHow do you collect the seeds? Comments (1)Mdgardengurl, you collect seeds from the inside of the passion fruit once they're ripe. Do you know what types of passion vine you have? Many of the hybrids are fully or partly sterile and don't fruit easily, if at all. Most of the others need a non-clonal companion to cross-pollinate, although many different species can cross-pollinate and hybridize. Once the fruit ripens, it will drop to the ground. You can open it and it'll be full of seed. THese can be planted immediately, although be warned that passis have a reputation of seeds that are slow to germinate....See MoreHow do you collect Cotyledon seeds?.
Comments (1)It would help to have the proper spelling of your plant. Or in this case even a common name might help as 'Cotyledon' is a part of the seed structure, not a plant name....See MoreNil13 usda:10a sunset:21 LA,CA (Mount Wash.)
