Sugar Apple Seedlings
Comments (5)Andrew, I have 3 and I can send you one. I started mine not too long after you started yours. They had been grown for 2 winters and a summer. They are about two feet tall and just got pugged to about 10" to encourage branching. The seeds were from Trade Wind. I also have another set of SA seedlings I started few months ago. These are from the fruit I had in Houston. The fruit was the chewy type that I like. Hope it will grow true from seeds. Bo (yaslan) sent me some cherimoya seeds last spring and these seedlings are sure growing very fast. I grafted atemoya scion onto them this early February but they were all failed. Too bad, otherwise, you can have one of it too. I can post pic if you want to have a look at it. I am interest in your Maha Chinook budwoods whenever your tree needs to prun. Comments (13)Patusho, I heard the same thing about ilama. Its so odd that it supposedly needs to stored for quite some time before they will germinate. I once got seeds of some that were stored for about a year, all of the ones I tried germinated so it appears to be true. I tried my first grafts of these seedlings onto my largest cherimoya this year, hopefully the graft takes. The pictures of the fruit I seen from Brazil looked huge, like about twice the size a regular sweetsop. White cherimoyas get to about 2 to 2 1/2 lbs per fruit. Neither cherimoyas, sugar apples, or atemoyas will self pollinate sufficiently here. There are a few micro climates out here that will do the job....See MoreSugar Apple and Cherimoya Tree Containers
Comments (1)When I was in my home country, our sugar apple tree was very big. I highly doubt you can get any worthwhile production from it from just a 5gal bucket, that could barely hold the tree up. If I was going to put it in a container, probably a 25 gallon at least, imo, but bigger is better. I saw sugar apple tree sold at homedepot the other day, I wish I had space for it....See MoreHAVE: Jackfruit seeds - Want: Sugar Apple (Anon) Seeds
Comments (5)That reminds me of my cherimoya trees. I have 4 seedlings. 2 are almost 2 yrs old (3' tall) and other 2 are 4 yrs old (4' tall) but the trunk are not as thick as the younger trees. The 2 older trees - the owner said the mother tree did not produce much fruit - that should of been my clue to step away but I was desperate to have cherimoya trees and I didn't want to waste my 1/2 hour trip driving there. The 2 younger trees are from the same person and seemed more vigorous and faster growing than the 2 older trees. I can't wait to get fruit. I know it's another couple years. All are pretty leggy. Should I heavily prune them to try to them to grow bushy? I've only prune them a little bit....See MoreCharlie
