You can root your bella in whatever medium you use without the need for rooting hormone. Unless it's a super porous mix that doesn't hold moisture well, then I'd think you might need some hormone. Either way, you can get the plant in some potting medium to get it in the mood to root, then pull it out and apply hormone when you get some. I wouldn't wait too long, though. Loving the veins on finlaysonii! Gorgeous!

Congrats! Variegated Hoya Bella is one of my favorites though I should warn you - for me anyway- it is a slowwww grower. Mine has taken 3 years to get this big(or small lol) from cuttings similar in size as yours. I can't wait for it to be in a hanging pot just trailing over the sides :) I've never seen one in bloom, has anyone? She likes to stay moist but not quite as moist as my regular Bella. Also enjoys bright indirect light to stimulate growth since I've heard the white areas on Varigated bella do not produce food or energy (which may be why it's such a sluggish grower.) Best of luck!

I have been growing my Hoya Bella for about four years now. I started having problems this summer. It’s been is it’s pot for the entire four years, so that may be part of the problem. It is in a lechuza puro color 20. It’s loosing a lot of leaves. I had it in an east facing window when it started looking bad. I felt it was getting too hot. It’s now in a south window getting indirect light. It’s looking better but still on the downhill. I’m trying to root cuttings in water. I’m on day two so I won’t know if it worked for a week or so I’m guessing. These photos are from when it was doing well this spring. Does anyone know if the leaves ever grow back? I feel like they won’t. I have a lot of bare vine. My plan is to repot using lechuza pon. I’ve started misting for humidity. I don’t see any spider mites. Im curious to see how the roots look. Any Bella specific info or articles would be appreciated. I’ve exhausted google search.
