Worsleya - Keeping my fingers crossed!!
Comments (7)Thanks for answering Dan. Yeah I kind of know what they mean calling them weeds lol. I have ONE amaryllis that looks good when not in bloom - Papillio. It has a lot of nice strong green leaves year round. Being in the North, I have to bring my pots in and on the sill in the winter so I'm guessing the low light is what causes the other leaves to not look their best. I'm also trying to figure out if using a different fertilizer (I just use Schultz houseplant fertilizer in the winter and Miracle Gro in the summer) will help get healthier and more abundant leaves. I have a friend in Louisiana who has a wonderful collection of gingers. I agree that they're beautiful and I'd love to smell their fragrance too. I've only got so much room to zone push though! Good luck with your seeds....See Moreworsleya
Comments (4)no, Dan, not yet. I can't remember the year exactly that I got them but I don't think they are old enough. I'm fairly sure I got them before I got the job I'm now in and I've been there about 6 1/2 years and I think they were about a year old. I can remember very well getting them. I just can't place the year, you know? It must be exciting, watching the seeds. Good luck with them. well, if I'm going to leave them all together, I think perhaps I should repot them into something a bit bigger. Each bulb has, at least, 6 pups. I'd have to go fairly large, wouldn't I? and deep, too to allow for all those roots. what do you think? thanks Annie...See MoreWorsleya aka Blue Amaryllis
Comments (41)Dan has 1-2 year old seedlings for sale for just a bit more than a Hippeastrum bulb. He won't ship outside the US and is now waiting for spring's warmer temps. If you want his email, he doesn't want to post his work email on line, email me at kristi (dot) boehm (at) sbcglobal (dot) net. Of course, you need to remove spaces and use symbols....See MoreWorsleya on ebay
Comments (4)Yes, they are too expensiuve for me, and I do not have the correct conditions anyway so that is the main reason for not getting one I guess. What concerns me the most about the posting is the notion that they are dormant most of the year....I thought for sure I had read that they are evergreen and simply do not go dormant....lack of leaves is what we commonly call a dead plant in this case.....am I mistaken or is this likely not a Worsleya at all given that he does not have a pic of his own to show...surely a pic of the plant in leaf would be easy enough to provide. As I said, this is simply a curiosity thing....I have absolutely no intention whatsoever in trying to buy this plant.....something this unique I would not buy off someone that I do not know....I would pony up the big bucks for one with clear provenance that could be completely trusted :o) Dan...See Moredbarron
