Neuton one year later. I think this says it all: To: Neuton Technical Support Date: March 24, 2010 Subject: battery price I bought a Neuton 6.2 last spring and wasn't too happy with the battery performance as the season progressed. I spoke to my dealer a couple of times about it and they offered to test and replace the battery if necessary but I never was able to get back there. This year I planned to check out the battery in the spring and I was contemplating purchasing a backup battery. However, I see this year the price has gone up $30 for a new (allegedly improved) battery. Will you honor last year's battery price as a courtesy? The dealer would not. Were sorry that you are experiencing difficulties with your NEUTON Battery. We have placed an order for a replacement Battery to be sent out to you under warranty. You should receive it shortly. Charge the new battery for 24 hrs when you receive it and please follow these updated charging instructions. If you are going to use two batteries, they should be alternated and charged for 24 hrs after every use regardless of how diminished they are but they should never be completely depleted. They should also not be left charging continuously because doing so may reduce their lifespan. However, the batteries should not be neglected for months at a time during the winter because they will slowly discharge if not used and may lose their charge capacity if left unattended for long periods. We recommend charging them periodically during the off-season, every other month or so. Be advised that we expect the battery to last 3 to 5 years but it is considered a wearable item and the warranty is only for one year. ==================================== <... periphery conversation deleted...> ====================== To: Neuton Tech support: Date: April 22, 2010 I got my blade sharpened and attempted my first mowing of my 2nd season with my 2009 battery. A-W-F-U-L. It had barely any juice and is virtually useless. I followed all the winter charging instructions. It was indoors from October and charged fully once a month. The grass is still thin and not very long and the mower huffed and puffed to fill maybe a quarter of a bag. When it hit a single tall thick patch of grass, it gave out. Although you earlier kindly sent me a replacement battery for a somewhat-sluggish-but-still-functional battery (I thought), I had planned on rotating between the two batteries this year. That will not be possible. So I reiterate my original request: I would like to purchase a 2nd battery honoring last years price - $99 - which my dealer was not inclined to do. 2nd problem: the battery gauge is broken. Even using the fresh battery, it sometimes flickers to yellow momentarily (if I toggle between auxiliary/off/on), but it basically stays motionless in red. Is this easily fixed/replaced? 1. Universal Lid can be sealed with the hand-held FreshSaver - no hose or lid sealer needed. I'm glad you asked, I've never tried using the FreshSaver for that task. The Universal Lids come in two sizes and you can use them on any "solid" container that has a smooth rim. I do have one concern using the FreshSaver instead of the FoodSaver with hose and jar sealer. When all the air is out of the container, the FoodSaver stops. You're never really sure that's true using the hand-held FreshSaver. You might want to call FoodSaver and talk to them for more information. 2. From FoodSaver user manual: To Vacuum with Mason Jar - Always pre-soak new metal lids. Bring water to boil, then turn off. Pre-soak lids 5-10 minutes. Helpful hint: Make sure your lids are separated during this process. When you do several lids at a time they tend to stack. I love my little Lid Sterilizing Rack for this process. You can put 12 regular or wide-mouth lids in the rack, which keeps the lids separated for maximum exposure to the hot water 3. It works great for salad greens, just make sure you do NOT vacuum-seal strong smelling vegetables, such as cabbage, broccoli, and cauliflower. Do not vacuum package whole avocados with their pits, but I do vacuum-seal guacamole and it will stay fresh much longer. 4. If you have a Tuesday Morning store near you, you might want to look there for FoodSaver items. That's where I got my FreshSaver. I also bought a FoodSaver there for $60 (included bags, rolls of bags, 1 canister, jar sealer and hose). 5. One thing to keep in mind with a new dehydrator, make sure it has a variable temperature thermostat. Check out the link below for more general information. Shades, they make a special kind of cord for times when the plug is behind a piece of furniture. It is a flat "pigtail" that you plug in and it is a heavy duty extension of almost 12 inches that has a three-hole female plug for your fixture/lamp/wifi/whatever to plug into that. Hopefully that would allow you to keep the furniture against the wall. I got mine online from Amazon. I'm sure you can ask Google to give you sources or product options. Believe me, I think there are more types of wiring options than there are different kinds of light bulbs! Dimmable bulbs are taking light bulb buying to a whole new level. You read the fine print is how you know they are NOT dimmable. (The online spell checker does not think "dimmable" is a word and keeps changing it to "dimple." Crazy machine thinks I don't know what I want to say.) Because it is my observation that if they are dimmable it should be printed on the box somewhere as a selling feature. My electrician patiently explained to me several things about dimmers. You cannot DIM lights on a 3-way switch.....supposedly, or presently anyway--I'm sure tomorrow someone will remedy that oversight! You cannot dim plugs, but I'm thinking that my dimmable LED rope lights will be no problem. I will verify that, but at any rate, I can add to the plugin another plug that has a remote switch that connects to the rope lights and it dim dims the lights! Sometimes I get confused and forget a step required to accomplish wondrous things, but I seem to recall that was the way I dimmed the rope lights I installed around the sun porch up in Massachusetts. Now I've told you everything I know about dimming lights.....and dimmable ones, which may be a newly coined word for the English language. It was a quiet day in the house, at least after the road crew jack hammered the pavement in front of our driveway where the gas company had tied in our new 2 pound gas line. It is about 4 feet away from the spot where the city sewer connects to our house, and where we will be doing some sewer digging (and tearing out cement driveway) within a month, probably taking out the repairs made in the same location/house number. I guess we will have our very own speed bump before it is all over. Note also I baked stuffed bell peppers in the oven of my Bertazzoni range. I used spaghetti sauce so I guess that is appropriate as the first real meal cooked in my new kitchen. I could get used to having a real stove to cook on. It's been a LONG time without one--I threw out the old electric range in 2008 after we bought the house we'd rented for two years. Since then it's been the microwave/convection oven and a two-burner Waring hot plate. I got the Breville Smart Convection toaster oven when I knew I would get a M/W drawer. So having a range in my kitchen is an awesome thing. Can you guys see me doing the happy dance here? :-)

I couldn't wait to get home & play!!! Thank you all so much! We moved in here & a lot wasn't/still isn't finished. I had to take a break for awhile to live in the space. Just for fun, I found another set of pictures to try also. Ok, so I couldn't let completely go of some of my stuff & put it in the "dead corner" The other side of the kitchen( my favorite place to sit, especially in winter). Still need sconces for FP, pendants over island & UC lighting........... AND command center/ wine bar AND rework pantry cabs to hold microwave & breville in my "scullery" area.
