My partner treats me so bad , but I love him, how do I fix us?
Comments (7)We have a few addicts in our family. You probably know these things, but in case you don't... The first things drugs do is destroy a person's conscience. Right and wrong mean nothing to an addict--they only care about finding the money for their next fix. Addicts lie. MOST of the time. NO ONE can 'fix' an addict or their relationship with one. As long as you're trying to help him (paying for life's essentials, letting him get away with abusing you, etc), YOU are keeping him an addict. Most addicts really don't change. The few who do usually do so only after they've totally hit rock bottom. Helping him as you are, is keeping him from deciding to get the real help he needs. Look, as the others have said, YOU cannot fix this problem. All you really can do is save yourself. Get out. Take some time to heal, and find a real man, who truly loves you, and won't abuse you physically, verbally and financially. And just in case those words don't help you make up your mind--are you prepared to go to jail for this man? If the police find drugs in the car while YOU'RE driving it, YOU could be charged with the crime. And do you really believe this guy would step up and claim ownership of them to get you out of trouble? I doubt it. Whatever else you decide to do, please start squirrelling money away for the legal fees you no doubt will be paying sometime in the future, because one or the other of you will probably need to be bailed out and defended at some point...See MoreSo why is it bad to have the ground carry the neutral load?
Comments (75)Since this is now a discussion of hots and shorts...an interesting thing happened just the other day, The 20-25 year old GFCI in the bathroom died. There was only one other outlet on the circuit, an outside weather-tight box. No worries, simple replacement.... While not a professional, I know my way around 'lectricity....and respect it. (Got tagged by 12,000 v DC once from a neon sign transformer. I had built a functional helium-neon laser in 1968.) When it was time to change out the main panel box and upgrade from 100 to 200 amps, I pulled the ticket and did all the work myself and got high marks from the city's inspector. Also installed a 100 amp sub-panel in the greenhouse, and recently hard wired an 8kw, tri-fuel generator into the main panel via an interlock on the main panel. But back to the GFCI...installed the replacement, but it didn't work. At all. The reset button didn't seem to 'click' when pressed. My meter said the power feed was 118.3 v. Further investigation once removed revealed no continuity between anything. Carried it back and the hardware store gave me another. Same dam thing when installed: 118 at the feed lug, nothing anywhere. So back to the store with the second bogus unit and my meter. Demonstrated for the assembled crowd the lack of continuity and the non functional reset button. Grabbed a third off the shelf. Same story. Open circuits throughout.... *Three* bad right out of the box? One store guy opined that the reset button wouldn't 'reset' without power, but the first two had a proper input voltage present and the reset button still wouldn't engage. So I got my money back and bought a AF/GF breaker for the main panel. Everything works now, but I still can't understand why three Leviton GFCIs could be bad right out of the box... ....See MoreWhy do my first blooms look so bad?
Comments (24)Hello, I am sorry that you actually have thrips. They are very annoying, but finding them is the first step to getting them under control. I just spent all weekend removing every bloom and bud from my roses (over 150). It was a painful thing to do as they were loaded with unopened buds, but a quick look into those buds showed me it needed to be done. If you can make yourself do it I would remove every single bloom and bud into a trash bag, and then spray with whatever you prefer. I read that doing this a good way to tackle the thrips on the heirloom website ( they said to spray with an organic product)....See MoreDose anyone know why my floor looks like this and how to fix it?
Comments (8)WOW! That's not looking good. A 2 year old floor that looks like that....is not a good sign. First things first: Do NOT sand these until you FIND the source of the moisture. Cupping (when the middle of the plank sits lower than the edges) occurs when the moisture BELOW the wood is higher then the top. If you imagine the plank is an arrow-head, the centre/tip of the arrow will point in the direction of the moisture. In your photo the arrow is pointing DOWN. Look BELOW the floor to find the issue. The amount of area that is being affected is large so I would normally rule out a leak. How old is the HOUSE? What is the wood sitting on? Is it a concrete slab or is it a wooden subfloor? Do NOTHING with these until you FIND the issue. The wood is the symptom. The issue is the some sort of moisture BELOW the wood is causing the wood to swell and cup. Sanding only makes the 'symptom' disappear. It does nothing to cure the disease - except eat thousands of dollars that should have been spent on fixing problems in this house....See Moreravencajun Zone 8b TX
