LC vs Staub
Comments (17)I personally like Staub better than LeCeuset. Here is some information that may be of help. In the December 2006 Fine Cooking magazine they reviewed enameled cast-iron Dutch ovens. The results were interesting. Best Fitting Lid-Staub Cocotte 5 qt. Our Favorite-Lodge Enamel 5 qt. For Big Batches-Mario Batali Italian Essentials Pot 6 qt. Most Affordable-Innova Round Oven 5 qt. Great Find-World Cuisine Chasseur 5 1/2 qt. Easiest to maneuver-Le Crueset 5 1/2 qt. They also said the most noticeable advantage over the others is its slightly thinner construction when they were reporting on the LeCrueset and the thick cast-iron construction makes it heavy for its size when reporting on the Lodge. Batali's was the heaviest pot in the line up but also one of the best values....See MoreStaub cast iron enameled French oven?!?!
Comments (6)I actually did some research since my original post and found this product sold on other websites for WAY MORE, so yes eandhl, it does appear to be "the deal of the century"! It aired this afternoon on QVC and after watching the demo, I decided to pick it up! Apparently, many others did too! It came in four colors -- red, blue, green and yellow. The green sold out completely in less than 4 minutes. Out of the 3 previous airings of this product, all four colors sold out the first 2 airings and the green sold out the last airing also. Homepro01 -- The Staub actually has the enamel finish both on the outside AND inside just as Le Creuset does. No need to season the interior at all! Regarding the "easy pay", that simply means that if you choose to, they will take the total payment and spread it out over two months -- kind of like "lay away" except you don't have to wait until you make the final payment. You get the product after your first payment. By the way, the total payment including tax and shipping was $60 and change. (I opted for easy pay so I paid $30 today and will pay the other $30 next month, but I get my pot via mail next week -- make sense?) For me, it was too good of a deal to pass up. QVC has an unconditional money back guarantee on all their products for 30 days, so I figure I will give it a good try and if I reallly dislike it, I can always send it back. Hope I don't have to!...See MoreBurning Enameled LeCreuset Omelette Pan
Comments (8)Hi! I left a message for Blondelle about the new Staub grill pans (rectangular or square), but as a newbie I'm not sure whether she can answer me--I did not set my preferences to direct e-mail. So I'm asking the question again to all. Except for her answer about endorsing Staub over LC in general, I cannot find any reviews. I need a grill pan which will do nice searing marks and be easier to maintain than the Lodge. The Staub pans also have removable handles and can be put into the oven, and are cheaper than LC. Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks! claire de lune...See MoreCookware - Staub grill pans
Comments (1)I have one and they season better, and are easier to clean than the Le Creuset ones which I also had. The only thing is because of the low sides you will get some splatter....See MoreUser
