Marvin Integrity all Ultrex vs Marvin Infinity
Comments (3)In my opinion, the Marvin Integrity that is all ultrex in and out is just plain ugly and cheap looking. The Infinity is a much nicer looking window. I also remember a Marvin rep telling me a few years back that Infinity utilized a thicker guage fiberglass and it was built better. The jamb on the integrity is very narrow and not 3 1/4 like most replacement windows. I do not like the Integrity ultrex at all....See MoreMarvin Integrity All Ultrex: Pro's and Con's
Comments (5)Casements are more airtight because the latch pulls the window tight into the frame. Wind can't get a grip on an exposed edge to pull the window away from the frame a little bit (like it can with a double hung). However, if it's raining a little & you have your casements open, the inside surface of the window gets wet. But if it's raining a little and you have double-hung windows open a little, nothing bad happens & you still get air. We used to drop the top window an inch or 2 if we wanted fresh air when it was raining outside. Course, if you want the best of both worlds you can get awning windows :) Just kidding - they work great in some applications but don't give you as much ventilation when fully opened. Though I still plan to get some when we add a dormer to our house (hopefully in 2012). -Pam...See Moremarvin integrity all ultrex windows for new build
Comments (5)Slam dunk in that comparison. Cheaper...and the better window. Have you seen it? What kind of operators do you have in the home? Most folks prefer the wood ultrex, but if you are going modern stylelines, the all ultrex in all black is definitely good looking....See Moreanderson 100s vs RBA fibrex vs Marvin all ultrex.
Comments (27)That’s not accurate LD, Todd is right. The amount of glass lost can vary substantially depending on what’s being removed as well as the product being installed. In some cases no glass Is lost even on a replacement, but that’s rare. The 1-1.5” loss is probably a fair average overall, but again, lots af variables and casement vs hung is not a main factor...See MoreLE
