Show us your echoes - and your reverses
Comments (8)egr2005 - I planted my trio so long ago, I had forgotten names, but when I asked, the consensus here was that the forward left & right ones are Tiaras - Emerald and Golden - which names vaguely ring a bell, and the back right one Fortunei Aureomarginata, called Gold Crown. The latter I read on HL is very common, but I like its neat manner and the way it sets the others off but with leaves of a different scale. These guys are no muss, no fuss! And, yes, please copy if it pleases you - what a nice compliment!! Ooooooh, McT - I love your combos! And the ruffled edges of Sea Gulfstream and Reptillian are really appealing to me now... oh dear. I've been wishing I knew of a soft, dreamy-colored one for next to June - aha - Alvatine Taylor! I also like the chartreuse next to a blue - it does add a little zinggg. EO, I agree - composing the picture is really, really important to me, too. I have a few I like, but have ended up more often than not frantically digging a hole to plop one in at the end of the season. Saving grace is that they are easily moved. I've found that in my garden, inspiration comes at a time of its own choosing. I've been in this house 12 years and this is the first year my perennial border pleases me. BTW - I agree, your favorite scene is better without the chartreuse heuch (at least I think heuch). Chartreuse causes the eye to come to a full stop, and disrupts the serenity of your vignette. Beauty can't be rushed, I suspect, though sometimes it's an instant, happy accident. Ah, sweet mystery of our gardening lives! In this combo the Snowflake hydrangea blooms echo Sagae's border - happy accident - forgive me for posting again...I just like it... Hey_j - time for some new pictures... and all of mine are now chewed. hmmmm..... another thread.......See MoreShow us your favorite room in your house
Comments (81)Love all your rooms inside and out! Here are mine. Our DIY kitchen that we are still working on( DH rather) and our front porch. I used the painters tarp and grommet ideas for curtains for the porch so now we can sit and watch the storm.I call it the "biggest little porch in town" You are looking at the whole thing in the photo, there ain't no more. But it is big enough for 3 to sit and the 2 dogs can lie on the porch with us. We have our morning coffee outside after our walks. I included photos from May when I had painted the free CL loveseat and made pillows so you could see the colors in a better light. I am just using grosgrain ribbon right now, I plan to make tiebacks out of the stripe canvas. Of course the roses arent blooming like that now....See MoreShow us your adenium garden
Comments (45)Yes, Chris, your mini-garden was an inspiration for the creation of this thread. And you keep your garden so nice, neat and clean. Everyone of your plants are unique and seem to have been carefully chosen and well taken care of. You can come to my home anytime--maybe I'll have several mini-gardens that you could create: obesums here, arabicums there, somalense at the other side. Ha-ha! I have only obesums right now, but I hope arabicums and others will eventually be added to my collection. -Kadie...See MoreShow us your Somalenses: Part 3
Comments (13)2018-02-12: The waiting is over but this is another "somalense disappointment" (probably with obesum genes). I have never managed to grow a somalense with the wildtype star-shaped flowers and prominent nectar guides. Except one, they all had the same obesum-like pink flowers. I think, I will finally give up......See MoreUser
