Common name "african poinsettia" not a plumeria at all.

Research Synadenium grantii so that you know what you've gotten yourself into. I urge you to wear disposable gloves when handling this plant.

Thank you both for the I.D. and information. Knowning it was a Euphorbia I wasn't planning on cutting or pruning until I had a positive I.D. Doesn't seem like a very popular plant and I can see why. I'm growing mine outdoors in a very small pot to keep the size in check. No kids or pets around so it looks like I'll keep it and definitely wear gloves if the need to prune arises. It just has a unique appeal to me. Again thanks for the responses and the warning. What a great site!

This is a very poor specimen and certainly needs some TLC. There is an attractive form of Synadenium called Rubra with cinnamon-colored red variegation. To me, Synadenium is no worse than any other Euphorbia, those who might be allergic might have problems with the sap on skin but I've cut hundreds of euphs including this one and never had any issues. Main thing is don't get it in the eyes. For me, dieffenbachia is far more 'toxic'.
