The larger the planks, the more important it is that the floor is FLAT. You shoot for flat to within 1/8" over 10 feet for the 3' long planks....less for shorter one's.

Would it be the same with either stone tile or vinyl planks? Our contractor said he could float something over the floor to make it even?

Vinyl planks are far more forgiving than a real porcelain plank. Typically, the substrate involved is "Luan," and is simply stapled down. You still want a reasonably flat floor, but not nearly as critical. Won't last as long as tile and is subject to flooding and spills....but hey, it's cheaper!

We have the Adura glue down too! Same color? Vintage Oak Natural Honey? We got it this summer and really like it.

I'm curious about people's responses to this as well. I've always been set on wood look tile for our entryway, half bath, dining room, kitchen, and mud room (open concept) but I've been having second thoughts because it seems cold and unwelcoming. I live in Indiana so cold weather is here to stay. We have cheap laminate currently which the previous owners put in and I hate. The LVP options are sure tempting and install costs and time would certainly be less. Our house is less than 10 years old and on a cement slab so I'm hoping that our floor is pretty even.

Vinyl boards are significantly more lenient than a genuine porcelain board.

We've had the Adura luxury glue down tile in a high traffic room for about 10 years now. Wears really well and is great with 5 little dogs running around. It was not cheap though. $4 per square foot for the tile and then the cost of the glue. Had a family member install for us so that was cheaper because the store wanted another $4 per square foot to install which brought the price to $8 per square foot. Everyone thinks it real and not a vinyl floor, it does look authentic.
