Whats wrong with my hoya? photos
Comments (6)Ok so i have one more photo, i moved the hoya to a better shaded location and while moving it i noticed that the back facing the wall that gets no sun was all perfect, dark healthy looking green leaves and no spots anywhere, this is only on the front that gets full sun, now does anyones hoya ever get these spots?...See Morewhat in the world is my hoya doing?!
Comments (6)awesome!! this is exactly what i was hoping you all would be able to provide. obviously, i'd love to hear that i was just doing something wrong and a little tweaking on my part would result in some beautiful flowers or at least a growing plant. thanks SOOOOO much for your help. i'm torn...it's so cute in its little red pot, but it seems like it'll likely never do anything exciting. i don't have the heart (pardon the pun) to toss it out or anything like that, but all of her friends are moving and shaking. it's hard to see her sit idly by. hills, yours is beautiful. i'd even be happy if it planted but never flowered. :) oh well. i think i'll just have to readjust my expectations and just enjoy the love its giving. :) thanks again for your help guys!! this sounds like a wonderful forum that would be a joy to be a part of. too bad in the world of hoyas, i wouldn't have anything to contribute. kate...See MoreIs thia a hoya and you tell what is wrong with her?
Comments (1)you don't want to over pot a hoya or any plant. the reason is that when you water the soil tends to stay wet too long causing fungus and root rot. I don't know what kind of soil you have it planted in but over the years it could have broken down and turned more "peaty" which holds even more water. So my best guess is that it is too wet and you need to repot in a well draining mix. gl (yes it is a hoya)...See MoreWhat is wrong with this hoya?
Comments (8)Anything carnosa-ish are outside in the "green house" thing because I know they can take the temps here outdoors as long as they are under cover, the rest are indoors. Just moved and the new house isn't as hoya friendly. (last house had a room which got heaps of Sun and stayed warm all day) Plus I under watered them a bit when they got a bit neglected for a few weeks during the whole move. Quite a few got very upset with me for that! (Except fungii, it just grew more... that plant is insane!) Average lowest temps here is about -2, but can get down to -5 if we are really unlucky. I find so many different varieties of hoyas at the local stores that are cheap enough for me to experiment with their survival rates here :D There are some I haven't kept through a Winter yet and expected not to make it that are doing great so, go figure? Still, we aren't at the coldest part yet, that's July.... I accidentally also just discovered that Euphorbia obesa can survive out side in minus temps for a few days as long as they are under cover. I forgot to bring mine in, Oops!...See MoreUser
