'Prospero'
Comments (10)Rust isn't a huge issue here. I see a little on a nearby 'La Reine' -- but not on 'Prospero.' He can occasionally mildew -- but not badly. My biggest complaint of him is that he's a slow grower. I'd love to see him budded on 'Fortuniana.' It's difficult to show the plants. There are pots of plumerias behind them, and a huge salvia just to their left. They are quite "bare-bottomed" as a Hybrid Perpetual would be ... and prickly, with the growth concentrated in the top 2/3rds of the plants....See More'Prospero' and Friends
Comments (10)Prospero is a really useful rose. Gives me cut flowers much of the year. When we were still exhibiting, we didn't make much use of it, because it was pretty wimpy back then -- it takes a bit of time to mature as a plant. But the last few years, it's increasingly been an asset. FORTUNATELY for us, we planted it right by the front gate. :-)...See More'Prospero' -- For ONCE showing the color correctly . . .

Comments (9)Hey Jeri, Thanks for the beautiful bloom image of Prospero! You have convinced, "enabled", me to want, want, want a plant of this rose over many years,. Though I think you agree, it is better grafted, especially for we Northerners. I tried to get a grafted plant from Palatine Roses this spring and was too late in ordering. So: :"No Prospero for you Rick!" I did however get a plant of Tradescant, for which Prospero is the seed parent. It is doing extremely well for me here in the South Okanagan and reminds me very much of Propspero in bloom form, colour and size. So, I must go out and take an image or two of Tradescant and post them seperately so we can compare Prospero and Offspring. Bottom line, I do not have Prospero yet, but Tradescant is a worthy alternative. Cheers, Rick...See MoreSara-Ann Z6B OK
