All-plywood Kraftmaid vs Cabico with particle board boxes

We are renovating our house and replacing a walk-in closet sized kitchen with only one drawer with a bigger kitchen sized to accommodate a growing family.

Right now we are trying to decide between two cabinet lines. The first is Kraftmaid Lyndale Maple Full Overlay with Dove White Paint and all-plywood construction upgrade. The second is a custom Cabico set with a similar look but particle board boxes.

The total cost of the all-plywood Kraftmaid cabinets (including some laundry and bathroom cabinetry) and the countertops would be around $23,000, while the particle board built Cabico cabinets and counters would total about $21,000.

Is it worth spending the extra $2000 for plywood boxes? Does anyone who owns or has installed Cabico particle board cabinets have thoughts about their durability and strength? Is off-gassing a concern? We are leery of the weakness and vulnerability to moisture of particle board, but have heard knowledgeable people say that good-quality particle board holds up well.

Thanks for any information or advice you can provide!
