If your quartz countertop is solid or just has flecks of sparkle, it's nice to bring some pattern in with the floor tile. You can also add some pattern to the floor with the way you lay the tile. Try to find a tile store that also sells quartz so you can coordinate the two. Be aware that you may have to add a new subfloor for the tile, which would make the tile higher than the hardwood in the hallway. This happened in our kitchen when we replaced sheet vinyl with porcelain tile. I do not like the wooden "speed bump" strip between the hardwood and tile. We would have liked to use porcelain tile in our guest bath remodel, but again, it would be higher than the adjacent carpet. We used Armstrong Alterna LVT. There aren't as many color and pattern choices as porcelain tile, but it it has a limestone composite base and is grouted just like real tile, so it's not really vinyl-y. Nice stuff, and a lot cheaper than porcelain tile.

Thanks so much everyone for the great advice and pictures! I will head out to the tile stores and start looking for a nice tumbled travertine. Not sure how DH will feel about unfilled holes, as he has strong preferences for smoother finishes for cleaning purposes, but I think the tumbled stone pictured looks beautiful. Msrose - the first floor in your first picture was just what I had in mind but the stone in the second picture is so beautiful it makes me consider taking the stone up the wall and behind the vanity. lindybarts - I love your bathroom, especially your vanity light. Now I wish I had chosen one with upright sconces! les - I wasn't including the toilet, which will probably be a soft white or bisque finish.

Thanks everyone for the help. gk5040, yes the painter is reskimming the walls. I did consider faux painting the walls and would do that if we weren't planning on moving. That would be my first choice. What sort of faux finish did you have in mind? Lindybarts, the flecks in the capri limestone are kind of gold and bronze, no green. The cabinet is a dark cherry. Unfortunately I don't have a pic and my husband has the camera with him today. I considered doing a green, but didn't know if that was "neutral" enough for selling a home. Patty, if I do get the mirror, do you have any thoughts on light fixtures? I am considering the one in the link below.
