chris45ny - Yes we are planning to have 3 stools. No... it can definitely be swagged over to the beam. I've had different opinions about where it should be. I prefer it over toward the beam, but my DH and his contractor friend think it looks just fine where it is. flwrs_n_co - Thank you ... I love the penisula! We were unable to make an island work in the kitchen, since it was too small, but I'm so happy with our design. As for someone hitting their head under the light, no its placed high enough. My DH is 6'1 and he has plenty of head space. palimpsest - thanks for your opinion, but the DH would kill me if I asked him to move another light fixture. We're unable to move a box under the beam, which is why I thought to swag it over if anything. I'll live with this for a while until I figure out what I really want to do.

romy718, I am certainly not committed to Wood Mode cabinets. I am also considering Dura Supreme. Personally I feel both of these lines are in the same range from quality point of view. I am definitely getting all drawers for lower cabinets. Yes, there are other Wood Mode dealers in my area. Some of them are just distributors of cabinets and then you are own your own. Some are quite far away. They will be expensive because of transportation costs. So I am not even contacting them. I prefer to hire a KD who comes from design-build firm. That way I won't have to hire a GC and it will save me headache of managing all those trade people. This is my first house and this will be my first and last kitchen renovation. It is quite a stressful process and I am certainly not enjoying it. I am just waiting for the final outcome so that I can have a New Year party in Dec:-) If this process gets delayed, that party may not happen. That will really suck. I may consider different switch for pendants, but it is an issue which is quite far away. First I need to find a designer :-). nightowl, When I was composing my message, I certainly did not think or realize that some Houzzers will interpret that she is THE designer for me. She is certainly a designer, not the designer. Anyhow, I am also considering hiring a general contractor. But I still need to hire a KD in order to get the final design so that the GC can turn that design into a reality. I can't save bunches on anything if a KD won't let me buy anything on my own. I hope the next KD I am meeting this coming Saturday, lets me do that. Mindy

Been there...done that. I've moved a central light to two side lights (and oddly due to my wife's redecorating ideas back again). First word: if you have a splice, it needs to remain accessible. So if that box still has a live connection in it, you need to leave a cover plate (though you can paint or otherwise hide it with anything as long as you do not need to disturb the "finished surface" to get to it). The first thing to do is see if you can find where the wires run now. In my case I had the good fortune of having an accessible attic above and was able to pull the wire from the central box up and then fish it down to the closer of the two wall sconce locations. I then ran a wire from there to the other location. It wasn't necessary to cut any holes larger than the box size for the new sconces. Since the old box no longer had any wiring in it, I could cover it over with wall patch. If you're not so lucky, you'll probably need to be cutting into the wall to find and relocate the wiring. If we're talking drywall, this isn't a big thing. I've spent more time cutting and patching drywall over my life than I care to think about. You may wish or need to remove the mirror. Hopefully it's mounted reasonably rather than being glued to the wall (in the latter case you'll have a lot of drywall to replace :)).
