Would love suggestions for exterior colors

This old biddy is our winter project and I've never had to pick colors for the outside of a house this complex. I picked up the SW historic color palette but nothing on there speaks to me.

Two considerations: roof is tan/grey and the neighbors house is a sagey green color.

Any ideas?

I am not a color expert, but I thought, pale yellow next to your sage green neighbour:)

There are so many options!

Beanie, thanks for the suggestions... however, the house photo you uploaded looks very much like what I've got... Does not appeal to me. not looking for one shade darker/lighter for shutters/trim. I have uploaded a photo from the front door to illustrate the "shrubs that need trimming" are a Japanese maple and cedar tree, neither or which are next to the house, but because of the lot angle from street, these trees partially block house. While I would consider the potentially cutting down the cedar, I'm not considering taking out the Japanese maple... it is beautiful. DecoEnthusiast... I'd never considered concrete window trim; this appears to be an expensive proposition... Do you have any examples of this on a red brick house? Also, love the bluestone/slate idea on the steps! Any thoughts on lime-wash/white-wash or German Shmear on this house??? I think that would look pretty given the deep red of the brick... Thanks all for weighing in!

This is a typical plan factory design where all the goodies are put on the front façade, and nothing is considered on any of the other sides. For example, compare the front and rear elevations...it doesn't even look like the same house, does it? The front is overly decorated with four front-facing gables, plus other assorted roof forms. Windows and trim strongly contrast with the dark siding. It looks like someone dressed up to attend a masquerade ball. Yet, the back elevation looks like the poor step-sister who has to stay home and peel potatoes all day. The floor plan is organized around a diagonal stair and spaces. Diagonal spaces are a sure sign that the designer couldn't or didn't know how to properly design the project. Avoid any design which features diagonal rooms or circulation spaces...it's very amateurish. If you're going to use an architect, that's your "starting point". You don't need to spend your time looking at plans like this to find a "starting point". There are a lot of threads in the archives about what one can productively do when preparing to visit an architect. Search for them and you will find them very helpful. Good luck on your project.

I'd like it to be sedate for sure. I love the 2nd house from lisa _mocha I think less is more in that case. I love TOH and this one is right up their alley!

We did our wood siding house in a deep brown/black with white trim and a bit of deep gold banding. I love how it modernized it, but still looks classic.

Beautiful suggestions! That blue and white is very pretty and the brown and white sounds stunning! The fawn is such a lovely color, too, but also very similar to the roof color - would that be too much?

I like the white trim bc the windows have been replaced already and they're white vinyl. Looking forward to more input!

The roof looks more gray than brown. I would find a beautiful red for the exterior!

Annie those are all great suggestions, thank you! I like the soft yellow it's so pretty with that black roof! I think we're leaning toward beige and cream or blue and cream - either would work well with the roof color and the white vinyl windows.
