Heh....I know what to do, go to the neighbors that cause you the MOST TROUBLE to you and your family since you moved there. Hide a bunch of JB traps in their undergrowth!! Go out with a pen lite at night and collect the full ones! I'm just JOKING, but it IS A BIT of a cleverishly demented idea! I'm think of the man whose dog always leaves a surprise by the hydrangeas when he thinks we aren't watching. ( oh, we are....it's just that he is a big dude with a big dog- we know its him, the poops are in same spot and the same size/color...oh...sorry for the TMD. ) our dog is big also, (a beautiful walker coon hound) but she is basically a chicken. Never barks when the doorbell rings, barks/howls only when she wants in house or is hungry. Then her howls can send shivers down people's backs all over the neighborhood. here is a trick that bears to be tried: anyone willing to experiment?⬇ On another post a person, SOFl, suggested a shop vac or a dust buster!

Granite - I'm a Botanist. I'm pretty sure that is NOT cilantro that is hot. You must have mistaken some other plant for it. And be very careful because there are extremely toxic plants in the family (Parsley Family/ Apiaciae). You are probably eating a mustard family plant like a cress or mustard (from mustard seed that you also composted?). I also keep sprouting seeds with my spices - so it could be another plant from that family like radish, if you also keep some of those seeds around. See if when it flowers it forms an umbel (like an umbrella) with the flowers in the ends of the 'spokes'. If so it's in the parsley family - but then photograph it and post it. If it does not flower (from a Spring sprout) - it's not cilantro either, as cilantro bolts very easily. Also - The cilantro I buy is often without nearly any flavor. When I grow it, it has lots. Some people think it's soapy - but in reality it's not soap, but the fragrances that are often put in dish soap, especially a popular one that is green. I can't stand scented dish soap so use unscented (though it slightly smells of the citrus oils they use as grease cutters). I don't think cilantro is soap-like myself, though it is very understandable. Cilantro also tastes very differently once it starts to produce flowers. It's often referred to as smelling of fleas - though human fleas are not at all common anymore so I have no idea (human fleas are a different species than the common cat or dog flea)! I still like it then, but it's not like the plant before that stage - and that may be more soap-like to some. Then the green seeds have another aroma, which then changes onces they are dry. So it's quite a unique plant. I did not like it at all when I grew it in our family garden when I was about 16 (years and years ago). Now I love it.

Adrian, There is a product that we use called NILODER. It neutralizes the mousy smell in the quansat and the garage. My dad used to use in the truck, as well to get rid of that cow dropping smell that used to stick to his boots. Don't know if it will get rid of a baked in smell on plastic, but is worth a try. @H W, I know. Same. I bought a new Whirlpool dw in 2015. I really liked it, but after about a month, it had the most ghastly stentch that I could not get rid of. Used bleach, more detergent, less detergent, always left the door ajar, did cleaning cycles, ugh. Everything. Then I found a web site that addressed the issue back then. It said to use Borax--about half a cup, in the longest and hottest cycle. (as a dedicated cleaning cycle) I did that a few times and it helped. It was suggested to add a sprinkle of Borax going forward to prevent it coming back. I did that too, and the odor was gone. Last year, I got a new Bosch dw and same. Ugh. This one was a bit more difficult to deal with as it uses less water than the Whirlpool did. However, I kept at it and it's fine now. I have to be careful of the detergent I use in the Bosch as it is fussy, unlike the Whirlpool was. In the Bosch I am using Lemishine dw cleaner monthly, which as far as I can tell is simply citric acid with a lemon scent. I was using the Finish dw cleaner fluid once a month, but I found that hard to obtain after a while. I find the Lemishine cleaner is slightly better. I also add a sprinkle of Lemishine booster (also citric acid, so might be a redundant purchase) to the detergent dispenser a couple times a week. Using this plan along with Finish Quantum detergent pods seems to keep odors away. I also have good luck with Cascade powder dosed at 1 1/2 TBS for my soft water--might have to use a little more with hard water. Hope that helps. ETA, when things were at their worst with the Bosch and the odor changed to general aquarium water scent, I took the advise on some thread on this forum and put copper pieces/fittings, such as from the plumbing section of the hardware store in the dw while running cycles. That put the kabosh on the fish pond scent that was coming up. Gads. Never had these issues back in the older days. Anyways, been there, smelled that and much better now. Take care.
