Can someone please tell me what unpasted, washable, strippable vinyl wall paper means? My husband is against me using it in our new house because he believes wallpaper is "out" and it messes up the wall and is hard to remove. I love the look - are there any that don't cause a problem like peeling on the edges, moisture getting stuck behind it, etc. I love the rustic look and was thinking of putting one panel in each room, but with slightly different colors, some brick, some wood, some stone: ANY ADVICE? Oh, can I use it as a backsplash as well?

Proper prep work is the key. If done right the paper will be easy to remove down the road. Prime with a wall covering primer and follow the directions for installation and you should have no problems.

I'll post when I get the samples. I would of course prefer a real brick wall or even the z brick like Annie suggested, but you never know, they make such great things this day and it would certainly be less of a commitment. I remember my parents had on wall done in a mural in the 70's and the paper was shiny. I hope and doubt this is anything like that, but we will see.

Edit: and am now planning a mini kitchen "facelift" that will impact the wallpaper in the kitchen Not sure why I can't edit my actual post but I am in the planning stages of a mini facelift for the kitchen - painting existing cabinets and new countertops. The photo is of the area most impacted by planned changes in the kitchen.

brick, knotty pine, and a wood look vinyl? that's a lot of diff patterns and colors. is there any type of vinyl that looks like, say a stone or slate? something with more of a solid color look? if not, then try and match your pine paneling tone. Do they have any that resemble pine? or maybe something like this? core-tec has this one. norwegian maple fawn chestnut.

The problem with it is that if it's real-enough looking, it'll be just as much of an issue for allergies as the real thing. (Probably just as tempting for cats as well.) I'm assuming the allergy concern is because it's not easy to keep it dusted? If it's because of a grass allergy, she should get a sample and hang out with it. It's probably okay in that regard. It's not naked grass, there's no pollen or juices, and it's probably not actually grass. But the dust! That is an allergy concern I think, no matter how good one is at vacuuming walls!

"unpasted, washable, strippable vinyl wall paper" means that it is vinyl wallpaper without paste applied on the back by the manufacturer. So you will need to apply the paste yourself, instead of the somewhat easier application process of submerging in water to activate the pre-applied paste.
