Is there a browser I can like?

I cut my computer teeth with everything Microsoft and have a stubborn loyalty (call that a bad habit) of feeling comfortable staying with all things MS. However, I have been told often that I could like, and even find superior, other browsers. I tried Foxfire of Firefox??? and was not impressed. I have fallen back into using MS and I am tormented by constant browser glitches. I am using Windows 10 and am strongly tempted to try Google Chrome. I DO NOT adapt to change easily and expect any different browser to torment me for a while. Please give me opinions as to whether I should try Chrome or keep plugging with MS. Thank you.

I can't think of a reason not to try it. If you find you don't like it, at least you'll know you don't like it.

It doesn't hurt to have an extra browser or two(or three) on your machine.

If you have W10 then you have the new browser Edge, which so far I think is fast and terrific? so what's your problem?

What versions of these browsers are you using? According to Microsoft, "this issue can occur if the Web site blocks beta versions of Internet Explorer, later versions of Internet Explorer that have not been tested with the Web site, or earlier versions of Internet Explorer that have known issues with using the Web site."

just in case you do not know how to use it, once you have it put back in place then any time you visit a site say like this one that you like to visit, while you are on that site just reach up to the address bar and grab the little icon at the front of each address and drag it right down onto that bar and voila you now have a link to click to go there. If you want to change the name or something just right click on it and choose properties there you can change the name etc.

In my limited experience, 3G is often problematic. It's best not to use it unless you must, like in the car, or for those features which only work on 3G. It also saves you bandwidth to use wifi when available. It's possible that your 3G was running slow and timing out before the information made it to the site. Where I live, theoretically we have 3G on all networks and 4G on some, but in reality we're usually on the Edge network or equivalent, which makes it more or less impossible to use it for anything more than text email.

I posted about Google Chrome a while back. I continue to be very happy with it. It is fast and simple to use, but once in a while a need a browser with more features for some sites. But as a PP mentioned you can have all the browsers you wish. I prefer Opera for reading since it has a 'rewind' button on it bringing you back to where you started with one click rather than having to flip through everything you just read.

Imagine standing in a garden store, trying to assess which of three different garden hoses of identical physical size and with essentially the same functionality and material you should get.

To me, the choice of a browser is a similar choice. They all do the same thing, they all have the same features (more or less), they all work the same way, they all function with the same speed and capability. In use, the differences between one browser and another are mostly imperceptible and irrelevant.

What differs between them? Appearance of basic screens. Menu trees. Ease and accessibility of changing settings. Availability and nature of add-ons (though most are frankly not worthwhile to have). In short, superficial things that most users rarely deal with. In use, they are the same. The same.

If you don't like one, pick another from among the half-dozen most popular ones. They're all free, easy to use, easy to switch to and easy to switch from.

I've been using Firefox since the 0.x versions (current is 41.0.2). It's highly-customizable. There are many settings that aren't directly accessible which *can* be adjusted via a sort-of hidden configuration editor. Chances are majority of things anyone may find objectionable can be tweaked accordingly. Several times I've Googled appropriate terms related to a behavior I wanted to change and found instructions, often in Mozilla's tech support forums, on how to adjust it.

My go-to add-ons are:
Aeon Clouds theme (requires a configuration tweak - set browser.preferences.InContent to false)

Adblock Plus

ColorfulTabs

Download YouTube Videos as MP4

ReminderFox (work with Firefox and Thunderbird)

Tab Mix Plus

My default browser is FF, but I have five others installed just for tinkering. They don't conflict and can be removed at any time.

Personally I think they are all 95% the same, and that none of them have released anything new and exciting for years.

It's all basically your preference, what you like! I have Chrome on all of my Windows 10 Computers. I use it for a Backup in case Microsoft Edge or Microsoft Internet Explorer isn't working. I do like Google Chrome better than many other browsers, Firefox included! Surely won't hurt to give it a try.

Windows 10 currently has Both Microsoft Edge and Internet Explorer. I wouldn't expect Internet Explorer to be around much longer, Microsoft is Phasing it out and going with Microsoft Edge! BTW, Microsoft Edge is a little bit slower than Internet Explorer was loading pages!

There are plenty of Browsers to choose from: Firefox, Google Chrome, SeaMonkey, Opera and Comodo are just a few. Here is a list of 20 more Web Broswers, 19 of which I've never heard of! Here is another site with 6 more Web Browsers. If you Type Web Browsers into you favorite Search Engine I'm sure you'll find even more!

Agree. And from one to the other, the 5% that isn't the same, is very similar.

Some, IMO are very much alike. Think Comodo and Chrome are almost Identical!
